Commanders tried out three kickers as kicker Zane Gonzalez (hip) practices in full on Wednesday.
Gonzalez was listed with a hip injury and limited in practice Tuesday, but practiced fully Wednesday. The Commanders still tried out Matthew Wright, Aldrick Rosas, and Tucker McCann at kicker. They are presumably looking for depth on the slim chance Gonzalez is not ready for Saturday’s Divisional Round matchup against the Lions. He kicked the game-winner in the Commanders’ Wild Card win over the Buccaneers and made 5-of-7 field goals in six regular season games. Expect Gonzalez to play; one of Wright, Rosas, or McCann could get the call if he does not.

    Saints released K Aldrick Rosas.
Rosas sealed his own fate by missing three field goals in New Orleans’ last two games, the latest being a whiff from 58-yards out on Sunday. Veteran Cody Parkey was signed to take his place while Wil Lutz remains on injured reserve.

  • Saints released K Brett Maher with an injury settlement.
With Maher gone and Wil Lutz (groin surgery) expected to miss the start of the season, Aldrick Rosas will open the year as New Orleans’ starting kicker. Rosas connected on just 72-percent of his field goals before being released by Jacksonville last year. Maher hasn’t attempted a regular season kick since 2019. He could reemerge as an emergency option for a team later this year but his chances of finding a home before the start of the season look slim.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
    Saints signed K Aldrick Rosas.
Rosas served a four-game suspension in 2020 but is cleared to take the field immediately. An All-Pro in 2018, he hit just 72% of his field goals before being released by Jacksonville last year. He’ll receive the first crack at Wil Lutz’s (groin surgery) starting job in camp.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
    Jaguars released Aldrick Rosas.
Rosas was re-signed in March after going 8-of-11 on field goals in six games with the Jaguars last year. His release leaves Josh Lambo as Jacksonville’s starting kicker. The Jaguars also cut LB Leon Jacobs and signed WR Tevin Jones in corresponding moves.

  • FA Kicker (FG) #6
Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo is competing for the team’s starting job with Aldrick Rosas.
Jacksonville special teams coordinator Nick Sorensen confirmed the red-hot kicker competition during minicamp. Lambo’s lingering hip injury limited him to four games in 2020 and left the team scrambling for viable kicker options. Jacksonville’s cast of kickers hit 18 of their 25 field goal attempts (72 percent), the third lowest rate in the NFL. They were the third worst in extra point conversions too. The most accurate kicker in Jags history, Lambo will have to outplay Rosas this summer if he’s to keep his gig in 2021. Rosas -- the seventh highest scoring kicker in 2018 as a member of the Giants -- made eight of 11 attempts last year for Jacksonville. Whoever wins the team’s kicker job will have some streaming appeal this season.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
    Jaguars re-signed K Aldrick Rosas.
Released last year from the Giants after a hit-and-run and DUI arrest, Rosas latched on with the Jaguars for six games, going 8-of-11 on field goals and a perfect 9-for-9 on extra points. Rosas has a huge leg but has been pretty erratic outside of a stellar 2018 season.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
Jaguars promoted K Aldrick Rosas from the practice squad.
In what is seemingly the Jaguars’ millionth kicker transaction of 2020, Chase McLaughlin has been waived. The Jags are headed into a potential shootout with the Titans, but Rosas is not on the Week 14 streaming radar.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
    Giants waived K Aldrick Rosas.
Rosas was charged with three misdemeanors following a June 15 arrest in a hit-and-run accident, including reckless driving on the highway, hit-and-run property damage and driving while suspended/revoked for DUI of alcohol/drugs. His entire $3.259 million salary, via a second-round restricted free agent tender, will come off the books. The reality is, Rosas probably would have kept his job had he been better last season. He shanked five of his 17 field goal attempts, also missing four extra points. There is a strong chance the Giants reunite free agent Stephen Gostkowski with ex-Patriots ST coordinator Joe Judge.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
Giants K Aldrick Rosas was charged with three misdemeanors stemming from a June 15 hit-and-run accident.
The Butte County, California, district attorney’s office elected to file charges of reckless driving on highway, hit-and-run property damage and driving while suspended/revoked for DUI of alcohol/drugs. His next hearing for the current matter is scheduled for Sept. 4. It’s undetermined whether the Giants, which open training camp later this month, will keep the 25-year-old on his $3.259 million RFA tag this year.
