Alex Dickerson has signed with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Dickerson spent this past season playing for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League and also had a stint in the Mexican League. The 33-year-old outfielder, who had success earlier in his career with the Giants, got into 13 games for the Braves during the 2022 campaign, which was his last appearance in the big leagues. He’ll take his talents overseas to Japan for 2024.

Alex Dickerson has elected free agency.
Dickerson signed a one-year, $1 million contract last March with the Braves and wound up hitting just .121/.194/.212 with one round-tripper over 36 plate appearances in 13 games before being designated for assignment in late April. The 32-year-old outfielder simply hasn’t hit at all over the last two years and will struggle to find an opportunity in the majors this offseason. He could get another shot as a part-time righty-mashing platoon outfielder.

Braves sent OF Alex Dickerson outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dickerson passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will head to Triple-A Gwinnett as organizational outfield depth. The 31-year-old outfielder had just four hits in 33 at-bats in 13 games for the Braves this season.

Braves designated OF Alex Dickerson for assignment.
This move clears out a roster spot for the return of Ronald Acuña Jr (knee) on Thursday. Dickerson signed a one-year, $1 million free agent deal with Atlanta this spring and went on to bat just .121/.194/.212 in 13 games.

Eddie Rosario and Alex Dickerson are back in the Braves’ lineup for Saturday’s game against the Padres.
Rosario and Dickerson took a seat Friday evening with rookie left-hander MacKenzie Gore on the hill for the Padres. They’re back in there Saturday afternoon to face righty Nick Martinez. Manny Piña gets the nod behind the plate in this one with Travis d’Arnaud getting a breather.

Braves signed OF Alex Dickerson to a one-year, $1 million contract.
The official tweet from the Braves notes that this is a “non-guaranteed” deal, so Dickerson can only lock in that $1 million salary if he’s on the major league roster. The oft-injured 31-year-old outfielder hit .233/.304/.420 with 13 home runs in 111 games (312 plate appearances) last season for the Giants.

  • INT Right Fielder #25
    Giants released OF Alex Dickerson.
Dickerson passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the Giants’ 40-man roster earlier this week. The 31-year-old outfielder, who was a likely non-tender candidate later this month, slashed .233/.304/.420 with 13 round-trippers and one stolen base across a career-high 312 plate appearances during the 2021 campaign. He should be able to latch on as a righty-mashing platoon outfielder somewhere this offseason.

Giants designated OF Alex Dickerson for assignment.
Dickerson was probably going to be non-tendered, anyway, but he’ll lose his roster spot a little sooner in order to clear room for Anthony DeSclafani’s return. The 31-year-old batted .265/.334/.489 over two-and-a-half seasons for the Giants, but his production tailed off in 2021 and he’s always struggled to stay healthy.

X-rays turned up negative on Alex Dickerson’s left foot.
Dickerson got plunked on the foot while pinch-hitting on Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks, but he’ll probably be fine after a bit of treatment and rest. He’s being called day-to-day.

X-rays on Brandon Belt’s left hand have revealed a fractured thumb.
Belt suffered the injury on a hit by pitch Sunday. It’s an absolutely brutal blow for the Giants and for Belt, who has slugged a career-high 29 home runs while posting a .975 OPS this season even while being limited to just 97 games due to injury. He will continue to meet with doctors in the coming days before a decision is made on the next steps. For what it’s worth, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic hears that “there’s a pretty big range” in potential timetables for Belt and playing in the postseason “isn’t out of the question.” With Darin Ruf (oblique) also out, LaMonte Wade Jr. now figures to spend most of his time at first base, with Steven Duggar, Alex Dickerson and Austin Slater getting more reps in the outfield. Wilmer Flores also should see some time at first.
