    Tigers released INF Luis Carpio.
The 25-year-old signed a minor league pact with the Tigers prior to the 2022 campaign. He spent the year at Double-A Erie where he slashed just .218/.299/.300 with two homers, 20 RBI and eight stolen bases across 274 plate appearances. He’s now free to latch on elsewhere on a minor league deal.

Mets prospect infielder Luis Carpio will miss the entire 2016 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum.
Carpio had the surgery earlier this month, but the specifics weren’t known until now. The 18-year-old is coming off a promising season in rookie ball where he batted .304/.372/.359 over 45 games while playing strong defense at shortstop. He’s young enough to bounce back, but it’s a tough break.
