At last, we have made it. It’s officially PGA Championship week, a week that felt like a long time coming. In the build-up to the PGA Championship, we have seen golfers like Jon Rahm and K. H. Lee go super low to win their respective tournaments. Golf’s second major of the year is being held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While we were treated to a birdie fest last week at TPC Craig Ranch for the AT&T Byron Nelson, we should temper our expectations this week. With the drier course conditions and the windy forecast, scores will be much higher at Southern Hills.

In a stunning turn of events, defending champion, Phil Mickelson has decided to withdraw due to the controversial tension between the PGA Tour and the new Saudi Golf League. Mickelson’s absence from golf has been noticed and will continue to be seen this week. Mickelson had the opportunity to try and break his own record of being the oldest golfer to win a major. Nonetheless, the show must go on.

Scottie Scheffler again has the honors of being the odds on favorite at +1100 via PointsBet Sportsbook. The 2022 Master’s Champion finished T8 in the 2021 PGA Championship, played at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. When looking at Scheffler’s current form and skill set, he’s the perfect favorite to want to bet on this week.

At first glance, a golfer that I’m really excited to bet on this week is Cameron Smith at +1800. The TPC Champion is a guy who I will likely back at every remaining major. I locked him in at +8000 already to win the US Open. While I would love to cash that ticket, his game fits Southern Hills more. At Southern Hills, golfers will be required to hit strong approach shots and have great play around the greens due to the smaller-sized greens. Smith is the best putter on Tour and has some of the softest touch around the greens. If he is going to win a major this year, this is the likeliest spot to do it.
