Despite still sitting on top of the table, Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes are all but over. After their 4-1 midweek loss to Manchester City, they have just a two-point lead. Unfortunately for them, City have two games in hand, and Pep Guardiola‘s side has looked like the best team in the Premier League, so it is only a matter of time before they usurp Arsenal. That doesn’t mean I won’t be betting on Arsenal next week because that’s precisely what I will do.
Arsenal vs. Chelsea (Tuesday, 3 pm ET)
Three-way Moneyline: Arsenal (-150) | Draw (+310) | Chelsea (+390)
I’ve already given out Arsenal moneyline (-140) and Arsenal -1 (+122) on Twitter earlier in the week, expecting the lines to move. There are some -150’s available, but the price on most books is -160 or worse. However, I still like the price on Arsenal -1 at its current price of (+114). Let me tell you why I think the Gunners have a great chance to win this match by multiple goals.
Arsenal are amid a bad run of form. They’ve gone four straight without a win. I’m not really in the business of making excuses for major clubs fighting for a league title, but I can forgive some of those results. They blew a two-goal lead against Liverpool, but it’s hard to expect them to win at Anfield. No one wins at Anfield. The Southampton loss is unforgivable. However, I can forgive the loss to City. City is playing out of their mind.
After four winless matches and their Premier League fate all but decided, they can actually breathe a sigh of relief and get back to playing pressure-free football. What better than a match against a struggling team to do so?
They should win against Chelsea at the Emirates. There’s a strong possibility they win by multiple goals. The product Chelsea are putting on the pitch is absolutely embarrassing. They have gone eight straight winless across all competitions. They are now 11th on the table and now have a negative goal differential. This is a club who are scoring just 0.94 goals per contest.
Chelsea are their third manager of the season, and to be blunt, Frank Lampard has been putting out terrible IXs. Chelsea also have to deal with a crazy slew of injuries.
Arsenal might not run it up, but at +114, I am absolutely betting on them to win by more than one.
Bet: Arsenal -1 (+114)
