We’re into the second day at Wimbledon, and due to some rain on Monday we’ve got an absolutely loaded card to bet. I’ve got a couple bets picked out that I feel great about, and without further ado I’ll get to them now.

Sebastian Korda (+128) vs. Alex De Minaur (-160)

This is a match that was initially slated for Monday, but I’m not going to miss the chance to get in on the action. Alex De Minaur continues to be the most overpriced man in tennis, and his wins lately have only served to re-assure the oddsmakers that they’re doing the right thing.

Here’s the truth, though — De Minaur’s still lacking the weapons to make a true impact on the tour, and he’s still prone to some horrific losses, like we saw in Stuttgart when he fell to Jurij Rodionov. His wins lately have hardly been impressive, dropping a set on Grass to a clay specialist in Laslo Djere and just doing enough to get by some players with significantly less talent.

Sebastian Korda represents a real tough test for the Aussie. The young American has proven to have the mental toughness to win matches even with much less than his best game, and he’s already pretty accomplished at Grand Slams with a nice run last year at the French Open. This year, he’s proven he can play on grass by toppling one of the truly best players in the world in Roberto Bautista-Agut.

Put simply, Korda has a fantastic opportunity here on Monday and I think he seizes it. De Minaur is due for a letdown.

Edge: Korda +128

Taylor Fritz (+175) vs. Brandon Nakashima (-225)

We haven’t seen Fritz since the French Open, where he tore his meniscus on the final point of his loss to Dominik Koepfer. That was only a few weeks ago, and now he’s going to try to gut out a win in a best-of-five against a similarly driven american in Brandon Nakashima.

The youngster has had a meteoric rise over the last two years, and while wins have been a little more difficult to come by in 2021, he’s still put together a 21-14 record with a 4-2 mark on the grass. He came through qualifying in impressive fashion with wins over the tough Victor Troicki and Eernests Gulbis and is one of the more promising names to come out of American tennis in some time. He won his first Grand Slam match at last year’s US Open and even took a set off of finalist Alex Zverev.

He’ll be ready to go for this match, and should be brimming with confidence having beaten Fritz in their only meeting in 2019. Against a player who’s probably going to be less than 100%, I think he’s worth laying down the game spread with.

Edge: Nakashima -3.5 Games
