It was very surprising not to see Buchanan in the lineup against Dontrelle Willis, but there was an explanation. Buchanan appears to be day-to-day.

Buchanan, a big surprise for the Reds this spring, hit just .179 in 78 at-bats for Louisville. He’ll land a job with another Triple-A team.

Despite being 9 1/2 games back in the wild card and 12 behind in the division, the Mets are pretending like they’re still in it. At least this should mean less playing time for Gerald Williams. Buchanan shouldn’t have any fantasy value.

If Eduardo Perez doesn’t come back from his torn Achilles’ tendon, Buchanan would be a fine replacement against lefties. The 31-year-old has hit .265/.360/.485 versus southpaws in his career.
