Broncos signed North Carolina QB Bryn Renner.
Renner (6-foot-2 5/8, 228) made 32 career starts for the Tar Heels, compiling an 18-14 record, 64:25 TD-to-INT ratio and 66.5 completion rate. Compared to T.J. Yates by NFL Films’ Greg Cosell, Renner is a smallish passer with small hands (9 1/8) and lacks NFL-caliber velocity. He’s probably not as good a prospect as Yates was coming out of UNC, and Yates may be out of the league in a year or two. Renner projects as a baseball cap-donning No. 3 NFL quarterback.
  • FA Quarterback #8
Ravens signed QB Bryn Renner from their practice squad.
WR Chris Matthews was also promoted for the matchup with his former team. LT Eugene Monroe (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve and OG Kaleb Johnson was cut in corresponding moves. Renner’s promotion suggests Matt Schaub (chest, questionable) will not be able to play against the Seahawks. Jimmy Clausen will get the start. The Seahawks DST is the premier play this weekend.
  • FA Quarterback #8
    Ravens waived QB Bryn Renner.
Renner was no longer needed on the active roster with Ryan Mallett joining the team officially Tuesday. Renner is likely headed back to the practice squad. RB/KR Raheem Mostert was also waived. CB Jumal Rolle and RB Terrence Magee were promoted from the practice squad in corresponding moves.
  • FA Quarterback #8
    Chargers signed QB Bryn Renner.
He’ll theoretically “compete” for a backup job, but Renner is likely a camp arm behind veterans Philip Rivers and Kellen Clemens. Renner was a 2014 UDFA.
