Falcons selected Mississippi State S Charles Mitchell with the No. 192 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
Mitchell was a three-year starter in the SEC, but doesn’t have the size/athleticism combination to be a future NFL starter. He is a physical, hard-hitter, however, and could step in as an occasional run stopper. Mitchell’s future is most likely on special teams.
  • FA Defensive Back #41
Falcons signed sixth-round S Charles Mitchell to a four-year contract.
Mitchell doesn’t possess any truly special traits as cover man, but he hits like a ton of bricks at 5-foot-11 and 202 pounds. He’s likely ticketed for special teams as a rookie. Mitchell should also back up SS William Moore.
  • FA Defensive Back #41
Falcons waived or released S Charles Mitchell, G Theo Goins, DT Neal Huynh, CB Terrence Johnson, DT Micanor Regis, OT Alec Savoie, K Jeremy Shelley, CB Peyton Thompson, and RB Ronnie Wingo.
Mitchell was a sixth-round pick in the 2012 draft and was probably the most notable name of this group.
