Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy received some good news on Sunday, as 2013 small forward Davante Fitzgerald verbally committed to the SEC school (subscription required) following his official visit.

Fitzgerald is a 6-7, 195-pound wing who also held offers from schools such as Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, Marquette and Ole Miss just to name a few.

The Tucker, Georgia product has upside, and he’s skilled enough to develop into an impact player for the Aggies in the SEC.

Fitzgerald is A&M’s second verbal commitment in the 2013 class joining power forward Derrick Griffin, who is also one of the top wide receiver prospects in the country.

Texas A&M will lose starters Elston Turner and Ray Turner at the end of this season, while guard Jordan Green and forward Kourtney Roberson will have eligibility remaining.

And a four-member freshman class led by three perimeter players (Alex Caruso, J’Mychal Reese and Shawn Smith) should help the Aggies not only going forward but this season as well.

The Aggies will also have the services of Florida State transfer Antwan Space in 2013, as he will sit out the upcoming season per NCAA transfer rules.
