It didn’t take long for New York City police to find and charge the man who allegedly shot Arizona basketball player Kevin Parrom. And they’re not calling anything accidental, either.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that Jason Gonzalez, 19, has been charged with attempted murder and nine other offenses related to the shooting.
Police said he was arrested on suspicion of assault, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon, but the paper says the complaint filed also listed attempted murder, two trespassing charges and second-degree charges of harassment and being menacing.
Gonzalez, a Bronx resident, has pled not guilty.
Arizona coach Sean Miller wasn’t kidding when he said Parrom was lucky to be alive. Sounds like the incident was quite a mess. From the paper:The deposition stated that Parrom told police the defendant and another, unapprehended male were acting together when they kicked open Parrom’s bedroom door, then the defendant pointed a silver firearm at Parrom.
Police said Parrom said a struggle ensued and that the defendant pulled the gun several times, hitting Parrom once above his right knee.
Police said Parrom told them the gunshot wound caused him “bleeding and substantial pain, as well as annoyance, alarm and fear for his physical safety.”
Parrom is back at school and has begun his rehab, but there’s no word when he’ll return.
