Thursday was a good day for the Michigan State basketball program, and not just because of the Spartans’ 71-51 win at Rutgers. Prior to the game it was announced by the school that a $3 million gift was given to the program by Mark and Cindy Pentecost with Mark being the CEO of It Works! (a skincare company), and they are also members of the athletic department’s “Empower Extraordinary” program that was established last October.

The goal of the program is to raise $262 million that would be used to improve facilities throughout the Michigan State athletic department. According to the release the gift given by the Pentecost family will be used to improve the men’s basketball offices and practice facility.

“I want to thank Mark and Cindy and their family for their confidence and support of Spartan athletics,” Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis said in the release. “The impact of their gift will be felt for generations. We already have the hardest working coaching staff in the country under Coach Izzo’s leadership and now they will have the necessary tools to continue to attract and develop the best and brightest student-athletes to Michigan State.”
