Notre Dame redshirt senior WR Avery Davis (ACL) will miss all of the 2022 season.
This is a brutal break for Davis (5'11/202), who suffered a torn ACL last November, ending his 2021 campaign. The redshirt senior receiver opted to return to South Bend to close out his college career this season but has had his return put on hold until next season -- should he opt to return. The latest injury is to Davis’ right knee, with last year’s injury being in his left. In four seasons at Notre Dame, Davis has gone for 66-862-8, and was expected to see starting work this season.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt senior WR Avery Davis will return to South Bend in 2022.
Davis’ (5'11/202) 2021 season was cut short after suffering a torn ACL in November, but he says he will be ready for the season-opener at Ohio State on September 3rd. Davis has become a key component at the slot position over the last two seasons as he has 51 catches for 708 yards and six touchdowns.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt senior WR Avery Davis (knee) tore his ACL against Navy last weekend and will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.
Davis (5'11/202) started every game in the slot so far for Notre Dame and had been an integral part of their passing game. He has been particularly productive over the past six games before going down this Saturday against Navy, catching 22-of-36 targets for 339 yards and four touchdowns in that span. While Davis is a fifth year senior, HC Brian Kelly indicated Davis could apply for a sixth-year waiver and would be welcomed back to the program if he were able to return in 2022.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt senior WR Avery Davis suffered a “significant left knee injury” during Saturday’s 34-6 win over Navy.
Davis (5'11/202) accounted for two receptions and 18 receiving yards before departing due to the injury. While the redshirt senior has been a productive pass-catcher, posting a 25-368-4 receiving line, Davis is just as important as a team leader. More will be learned about the severity of his knee injury in the coming days.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame graduate senior WR Avery Davis caught five passes for 120 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 27-13 win over Purdue.
Davis (5'11/202) enjoyed a solid day against the Boilermakers, with his best play coming on a 62-yard touchdown pass from Jack Coan. Davis simply beat Purdue safety Chris Jefferson down the seam and out ran him on the way to the end zone. Davis set career-highs in receptions and yards in this contest, as he now looks to improve on them in Week 4 at Wisconsin.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt junior WR Avery Davis caught four passes for 78 yards with a touchdown in a 47-40 double-overtime win over Clemson on Saturday.
Davis (5'11/202) was targeted often by Ian Book, but the two just couldn’t seem to connect for the majority of the contest. Then the final drive happened. The redshirt junior just barely got a foot in on an 11-yard catch, snagged a 53-yarder, and with just 22 seconds left, Book found Davis for a four-yard score that tied the game at 33 and sent the game to overtime and ultimately lead to a Notre Dame victory. Davis has moved all over the field while at South Bend, but appears to have found a home at wideout. The undefeated Fighting Irish take on Boston College next Saturday.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt junior WR Avery Davis caught two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 27-13 win over Duke.
Davis (5'11/202) has bounced from running back to cornerback to now wide receiver during his time in the program. He wasn’t a particularly integral part of Notre Dame’s offensive attack on Saturday, but did manage a 17-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter to boost his team to a 24-13 advantage after Duke had pulled to within 17-14 on a Chase Brice touchdown run near the end of the third quarter. Davis and company will take on South Florida next Saturday as the Irish look to improve to 2-0 on the young campaign.

  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt junior Avery Davis has moved to wide receiver from cornerback.
Davis (5'11/202) is making yet another position change, as he moved from cornerback to running back early in the 2019 campaign. That move was prompted by Notre Dame’s need for additional depth at running back, as the Fighting Irish were hit hard by injuries at that position early in the season. Notre Dame has some holes to fill at wide receiver as Chase Claypool and Chris Finke have moved on, and Davis will be one of the players competing for reps in spring drills.
  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt sophomore CB Avery Davis is being moved back to running back for depth issues.
Davis (5'11/192) was moved from running back to corner in the spring, but due to the abdominal injury suffered by RB Jafar Armstrong he’s back on the offensive side of the football. The redshirt sophomore will provide additional depth at running back, a position currently being led by senior Tony Jones Jr.
  • Wide Receiver
Notre Dame redshirt sophomore RB Avery Davis has moved to cornerback.
Davis (5'11/192) has already seen a fair bit of position movement in his young career. He initially enrolled at Notre Dame as a four-star quarterback in the 2017 class, redshirted, and then proceeded to work primarily at running back during the past campaign, when he rushed for 70 yards on 22 carries. Now shifting once more to the defensive side of things, Davis is competing with TaRiq Bracy and Noah Boykin for work at nickel this offseason.
