Former Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro transferred to San Jose State.
Cordeiro (6'1/190) didn’t last long in the portal, as he began the transfer process less than two weeks ago. It’s easy to understand why the Spartans were eager to add him, as Nick Starkel is set to graduate and the offense struggled behind Nick Nash when Starkel was injured. Cordeiro connected on 195-of-354 attempts for a 55 percent completion rate, 2,793 yards, 7.9 yards per attempt and a 17-to-11 TD/INT ratio this season. He earned a solid 82.2 passing grade from PFF which is supported by his 27-to-9 big time throw to turnover worthy play ratio. He should be considered the heavy favorite to take starting reps when San Jose State opens their 2022 season.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro has entered the transfer portal.
Cordeiro (6'1/190) led Hawaii to bowl eligibility just five days ago, but is now set to leave the university, as the Honolulu native will look to play elsewhere in 2022. During his time at Hawaii, Cordeiro threw for 6,167 yards, 45 touchdowns and 22 interceptions, while also rushing 295 times for 1,083 yards and 13 touchdowns. He missed three games with a shoulder injury, and will now miss Hawaii’s bowl game. According to 247Sports.com, Hawaii was the lone school to offer Cordeiro a scholarship, which will make his transfer process an interesting one now that he’s proven to be a quarterback worthy of starting at an FBS program.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed 19-of-31 passes for 323 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Saturday’s 35-14 win over Wyoming.
Hawaii needed to win this one to become bowl eligible and Corderio (6'1/190) delivered for the Warrior early. Cordeiro’s first touchdown on the day actually came on the ground rather than through the air, when he rushed for an eight-yard score to put Hawaii up 7-0 early. Corderio would go on to rush 14 times for 86 yards on the day. He would then throw two touchdown passes in the second quarter, one on a 19-yard pass to tight end Steven Fiso, and the other on a 50-yard pass to wide receiver Jared Smart to give Hawaii a 31-7 lead at the half. Cordeiro would find Fiso on a 32-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter with the game already out of reach, as Hawaii defeated Wyoming 38-14 to become bowl eligible for the fourth straight season.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed 23-of-41 passes for 406 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday’s 50-45 win against Colorado State.
Cordeiro (6'1/190) also rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown in the wild win in the islands, totaling three scores and a season high in passing yardage. The 406 yards were his most since he toasted New Mexico for 410 yards and four passing scores and five total touchdowns on Nov. 7, 2020 in the islands. Cordeiro will look to lead Hawaii to its sixth win and possible bowl eligibility at Wyoming next Saturday in the regular-season finale. HC Todd Graham has not ruled out the possibility of the team playing in the Hawaii Bowl if it secures win No. 6.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed just 11-of-23 passes with a touchdown and two interceptions in a 27-13 loss to UNLV on Saturday.
Cordeiro did have the touchdown pass to Nick Mardner, but that’s the end of the positives for the 6-foot-1, 190-pound quarterback. Especially when you consider this was against a UNLV club that had a total of one (1) win coming into the night, this is an even more disappointing effort. Some of this might be injury related as Cordeiro had a sprained AC joint, but one way or another, this offense isn’t getting it done. Hawaii falls to 4-7, and will be playing for pride starting next Saturday against Colorado State.

  • FA Quarterback
Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed 19-of-34 passes for 175 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Saturday’s 17-10 loss to San Diego State.
Cordeiro (6'1/190) appears to be over the sprained AC joint which was bothering him at the end of October, but he still didn’t look quite 100 percent in this one, either. The Hawaii offense has struggled this season, but that could change next week against UNLV, which has a 1-8 record. The Rainbow Warriors need at least two victories in the final three games at UNLV, home to Colorado State and at Wyoming to attain bowl eligibility.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed 23-of-39 passes for 296 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception in a 51-31 loss to Utah State on Saturday afternoon.
After going down 7-0 after the Aggies first drive, Cordeiro led a 12 play, 70-yard drive in an attempt to tie the game. Unfortunately, he threw an interception that set the game out of control for the Warriors. Cordeiro and the Warriors fought hard to get back in the game, coming back from 31 points down to within 13 points with just under nine minutes left in the game. Unfortunately for Hawaii, Utah State’s Brandon Bowling took the ensuing onside kick for a touchdown to put the dagger in the Warriors. The 4-5 Warriors take on San Diego State next Saturday.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro (shoulder) will start Saturday’s game against Utah State.
Cordeiro (6'1/190) has been working his way back from a sprained AC joint, and it appears that he’s finally healthy enough to play. The redshirt sophomore’s return pushes Brayden Schager back to the bench, but it would not come as a surprise if he were to get reps as well. Schager led the Rainbow Warriors to two wins in the three games that he started for the then-injured Cordeiro.

  • FA Quarterback
Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro (shoulder), who was a game time decision last week, is a game time decision again heading into Saturday’s matchup against Utah State.
Head coach Todd Graham said that both Cordeiro (6'1/190) and backup quarterback Brayden Schager will both be made available for Saturday’s game against Utah State. The Warriors are 2-1 under Schager, who has been mostly a game manager, but should welcome Cordeiro back if he’s able to go. Prior to getting injured, Corderior had thrown for 1,410 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions in five games. Cordeiro also rushed 15 times for 278 yards and one touchdown.

  • FA Quarterback
Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro (shoulder) appeared to have been trending in the right direction heading into this one, but ultimately sat as quarterback Brayden Schager started his third consecutive game for the Warriors.
Hawaii head coach Todd Graham said that Cordeiro (6'1/190) was ultimately viewed as a game time decision ahead of this one, which could point to him returning next week against Utah State. Schager has been solid in relief of Corderio, but has played more of a game manager role than he has that of a reliable starter.
