According to Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash, Hawaii senior DB Cortez Davis only missed two tackles in 2019.
“Davis was an all-around solid player in 2019, missing only two tackles on 55 attempts and posting a 75.4 coverage grade. He actually allowed 50 yards or fewer in all but two of his 15 games,” Treash wrote. Davis (5'11/180) had an excellent debut season at Hawaii, as he racked up 53 total tackles (44 solo, 3.5 for loss), 14 passes defensed and one interception (which was returned for a 43-yard touchdown). The senior cornerback was an honorable mention all-Mountain West selection for the West Division champions, and he projects to be even better for the Rainbow Warriors in 2020.

  • Hawaii junior DB Cortez Davis ran an interception back 43 yards in the Rainbow Warriors’ 21-7 win at UNLV.
Davis (5'11/178) made the play that determined the outcome, as his pick-6 with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter gave Hawaii a 14-7 lead. The junior defensive back also had two tackles on the day, and for the season he’s up to 45 total tackles (37 solo), one interception and 11 passes defensed. Davis, who has been one of the Mountain West’s top defensive newcomers, and the Rainbow Warriors host San Diego State next weekend with the winner earning a spot in the conference championship game.
