Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich has been one of college football’s most inspiring stories with his battle, and victory, over Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. It’s been a journey that has seen Herzlich become a recognized figure for bravery and has already earned him the Disney Spirit Award.
Now, Herzlich will have one more piece of hardware to add to his collection.
Today, Herzlich received the Rudy Award, given to the college football player who “shows exemplary character, courage, contribution and commitment.”
Herzlich’s father was presented the award at the American Football Coaches Association convention in Dallas.
And, as always, we wish Mark the best as he moves forward with his life and, hopefully, on to a successful career in the NFL.
