DISCH TURNS DOWN USF, STAYS WITH ILLINI

After news broke earlier that Dan Disch was offered and targeted for the USF defensive coordinator position, Ron Zook released a prepared statement that announced that Disch will be staying at Illinois."I’m very happy that coach Disch has decided to stay here,” Zook said in the statement. “He’s been with us from the beginning and has been a huge part of the success we’ve been able to build here. This was a good opportunity for him, but he felt loyal to this university, this program and the players."Disch’s decision is a huge show of loyalty to Zook and the Illini, and has to be a big blow to Leavitt and his hopes of filling the defensive coordinator position. No word now if Leavitt will turn his focus back onto Nebraska linebackers coach Mike Ekeler.
