The 2008 Heisman Trophy finalists are Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, it was announced today. That’s no surprise, although it is a bit of a surprise that only three finalists will be invited to New York City. Most years it’s four or five. Through much of the season, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell was considered to be a strong Heisman candidate, but when Texas Tech got blown out by Oklahoma, Harrell apparently fell out of consideration in the eyes of most voters. If Tebow wins, he’d become just the second player ever to win two Heisman Trophies. His status as a finalist was announced by the only two-time Heisman winner, former Ohio State running back Archie Griffin.
