Hokies, this Bud’s still for you

For those Virginia Tech fans in the audience who may have been worried about an earlier post noting Georgia’s interest in long-time defensive coordinator Bud Foster, fret no more.

He’s not going anywhere. At least right now.

According to the Roanoke Times, Foster was indeed offered the Bulldogs’ coordinator job. Fortunately for Hokie Nation, however, he has turned down the offer.

And, in a shocking (chuckle) development, Foster has agreed to a new contract that will include -- surprise! -- a bump in compensation. There are no details on how much of a raise Foster will receive.

Whatever the size of the raise, it should be well north of $400,000; this past season, Foster earned $402,000.

UPDATE 7:51 p.m ET: Just wanted to clarify the bump in Foster’s pay. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Foster will receive a one-time payment if he stays with Tech through the 2014 season. The amount of that payment has not yet been released, but it’s known that it will not affect his current deal.
