A solid three-year career at Northern Illinois won’t be the end of Tommy Davis’ collegiate playing days. Instead, he’ll get one more year playing in the Big Ten.
Per a release, Illinois announced that Davis (pictured, No. 20) will be transferring to the Illini as a graduate student, meaning he will be immediately eligible to play this season. Davis redshirted his first season with the Huskies in 2008.
Davis was twice named to the All-MAC team as a return specialist (2009-10) and tallied 111 tackles over the last two seasons as a safety. He has two kickoffs return for touchdowns and ranks third in NIU history with kickoff returns (61) and kickoff return yards (1,398).
In 2010, Davis had four fumble recoveries, tying him for the conference lead, and finished fourth on the team in tackles.
