Joe Paterno’s family plans to sell DVDs of memorial service

Last week, the Penn State community said their final goodbye to long-time coach Joe Paterno, who passed away on Jan. 22 after a battle with lung cancer.

Penn Staters will, however, get to relive the emotional memorial if they so choose. The Paterno family has announced they will be selling DVD copies of the service, with the proceeds going to charity. Scott Paterno said the decision was made after multiple media outlets requested copies of the memorial, which was broadcast over ESPN and Big Ten networks, and online.

A website to purchase the DVDs should be up soon.

Paterno’s final months left a polarizing legacy for the coach because of his involvement in the Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal, but the sold out memorial was a clear demonstration of what Paterno meant to an entire community.

If nothing else, Jay Paterno‘s eulogy would be worth watching again.
