Mike Leach Keeps Making Friends

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach landed in the NFL news over the weekend after calling out Browns coach Eric Mangini. Leach thinks Mangini leaked the notion that former Red Raiders receiver Michael Crabtree is a diva."My definition of a diva is someone who’s loud and self-absorbed,” Leach said after Crabtree fell to the tenth overall pick in the draft. “Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I’ve seen. . . . Let’s see how all those non-divas do up in Cleveland this year."Leach has made another draft-related remark that’s gaining notice. But it doesn’t relate to any of his former players.Instead, Leach takes a slap at the Texas A&M coaching staff in the wake of the Dallas Cowboys’ decision to draft former Aggies quarterback Stephen McGee."I’m happy for Stephen McGee,” Leach said, according to Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News. “The Dallas Cowboys like him more than his coaches at A&M did."We don’t know whether Leach ever hopes to coach in the NFL. But he might have to wait until the hiring pendulum swings back to the Mike Martz mindset. If it ever does.
