It’s 13-3 Illinois at the half and the Missouri Tigers hardly look like the offensive juggernauts Gary Pinkel has fielded the past few years.
Mizzou has totaled 137 yards of offense, but have only 3 points to show for it. The Tigers have struggled in the ground game with just 23 yards rushing. The theme in the first half has been utter incompetence. Both sides have committed turnovers and Mizzou missed a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter.
In all honesty, it’s been hard to tell if both defenses have played well, or if both offenses have just been horrific.
An interesting note: Mizzou has won four straight against the Illini dating back to 2007 and Illinois coach Ron Zook is on one of the hottest seats in the country. A win for Illinois today would certainly take the pressure off Zook and transfer it over to Pinkel.
