An appeal to the NCAA that would’ve allowed wide receiver Vidal Hazelton to suit up for Cincinnati in 2009 has been denied, the Pulse-Journal(?) is reporting.Head coach Brian Kelly confirmed the news to the paper this morning via a text message.Hazelton transferred from USC to Cincinnati earlier this year, and asked the NCAA to make waive its rule that players transferring from one Division I-A school to another must sit out a year. The basis for Hazelton’s appeal was that he wanted to be closer to his ailing grandfather. The fact that the grandfather lives in Georgia and he would be playing in Cincinnati probably did not help his case in the NCAA’s eyes. The receiver will be eligible to play in 2010, and will be his final season of eligibility.
