Princeton has reached back into its past to find the coach to lead them into the future, the school announced this afternoon.
Bob Surace, an All-Ivy League selection at the school back in the ’80’s, was named as the Tigers’ new head coach. Surace will replace Roger Hughes, who was fired shortly after the end of the 2009 season.
Surace is currently an assistant on Marvin Lewis’ Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff, and will finish out the season in Cincinnati before moving on to his new job.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity for me to return to my alma mater as head coach,” Surace said in a statement. “I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Bengals coaching staff for the past eight years. I have the utmost respect for the Brown family, Marvin Lewis, all the coaches and our players and the entire organization. Although my family and I will greatly miss Cincinnati, we are thrilled to continue to wear Orange and Black.”
