For the first time in more than half a century, Vanderbilt has won a bowl game.It was exactly 53 years ago today -- New Year’s Eve, 1955 -- that Vanderbilt beat Auburn in the Gator Bowl, 25-13. Today the Commodores beat Boston College in the Music City Bowl, 16-14.It was an impressive win for Vanderbilt, which finishes the season 7-6 for its first winning record since 1982. Although Boston College took a 14-13 lead late in the fourth quarter, a Bryant Hahnfeldt 45-yard field goal gave the Commodores the lead back, and the defense took it from there. For Boston College, the loss snapped the nation’s longest bowl winning streak at eight straight games.
