49ers selected Iowa OG Connor Colby with the No. 249 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Colby (6’6/309) started at right guard all season for Iowa. He shows reliability, playing in 53 games throughout his collegiate career for the Hawkeyes, and giving up just two sacks. As a run blocker, Colby is quick off the ball, but he has average speed. As a pulling guard, Colby is quick to his blocks. He’s not the most fluid with his hips, and his inconsistency with his hands does allow him to get beat at times. Colby posted a 77.3 PFF run blocking grade in 2024. Colby also shows a tone of versatility. He spent time at both guard positions and left tackle. As a pass blocker, Colby has good footwork and is well balanced on his feet. He posted a 66.9 PFF pass blocking grade. He lacks the upper body strength as a pass blocker, and plays high at times, causing him to get pushed around a bit of the line of scrimmage. Overall, Colby’s versatility is what stands out about his game. He has the talent to be a depth piece for the 49ers.
