    Astros released OF Danry Vasquez.
Vacquez -- an Astros minor leaguer -- was arrested on domestic violence charges earlier this month after he was allegedly caught on film striking his girlfriend. Now released, it might be difficult for the outfielder to latch on with another club given these troubling allegations. His release came immediately on the heels of MLB’s decision to issue an indefinite suspension to Vasquez.

Astros minor leaguer Danry Vasquez was arrested earlier this month on domestic violence charges.
According to the Houston Chronicle, a surveillance camera at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi captured Vasquez striking his girlfriend multiple times. Vasquez then threatened a Corpus Christi Hooks employee who witnessed the incident and went after his girlfriend yet again. This could very well spell the end of the 22-year-old outfielder’s playing career, at least in MLB-affiliated ball. He was batting just .265/.322/.374 in 60 games this season at Double-A.

Video emerged this week of former Astros prospect Danry Vasquez assaulting his girlfriend in a stadium stairwell in 2016.
Vasquez was released by the Astros soon after the incident in Corpus Christi, Texas, though assault charges were eventually dropped because the victim would not cooperate with prosecutors. Vasquez got probation and was entered into an anger management program. The 24-year-old has been dropped by the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League and probably won’t ever get another chance in professional baseball.

Astros acquired OF Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later from the Tigers for RHP Jose Veras.
Vasquez, a 19-year-old from Venezuela, has registered a .281/.333/.390 batting line with five home runs and nine stolen bases in 96 games this season for Low-A West Michigan. He is raw, but the 6-foot-3 173-pounder could wind up being a steal for Houston down the road.
