Undrafted out of Iowa State, Sims will add depth with Tanard Jackson battling a hamstring injury.

Sims was an undrafted rookie out of Iowa State. He’ll probably return to the practice squad. Economos, 29, is coming off a torn Achilles’ tendon. He’s been the Bucs’ deep snapper since the start of the 2007 season.

Young has been sidelined since August 2, and Sims has shined in his absence, notching interceptions in both of Cleveland’s preseason games. “He’s challenging, he’s physical and he’s really made a huge amount of progress in the time we’ve been together,” coach Pat Shurmur said. An undrafted free agent out of Iowa State last season, Sims never cracked a 53-man roster.

Undrafted out of Iowa State in 2011, Sims showed both physicality and a nose for the ball in preseason action. He’ll pitch in on special teams and back up Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman in Philly.

Acquired on the eve of final cuts last season, Sims appeared in 15 games, making one start. He’ll look for work as a special teamer.

Sims appeared in 15 games for the Eagles in 2012, mostly as a special teamer, before falling out of the league in 2013. The 2011 undrafted free agent out of Iowa State has landed in a spot he actually has a chance to stick. Antoine Bethea is a free agent and the Colts lack depth across their entire secondary.
