Jaguars signed Alabama LB Dylan Moses.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Moses will start on the team’s non-football injury list and continue rehabbing the knee he injured in 2019. An elite five-star Moses (6’2/235) was famously offered a scholarship by former LSU HC Les Miles when he was in eighth grade, prompting ESPN to put him on the cover of their magazine a year later. Moses earned SEC All-Freshman team recognition in 2017 despite missing the last two games with a Jones fracture in his foot. He led Alabama in tackles in 2018 before losing his 2019 season to a knee injury that lingered into 2020. Moses struggled in his return from knee injury, with less range and explosiveness against the run. Moses’ missed tackle percentage more than doubled in 2020 (to 9.4%, which is still a strong number). He retains the frame, theoretical athleticism and balls-to-the-wall style that made him a prep sensation. But he never fully realized his immense potential in Tuscaloosa, and he was flattered by the first-team All-SEC recognition he received last season. The most important aspect of Moses’ projection has to do with his health. The Jaguars clearly see him as a high-upside signing if he can make a full comeback from the lingering knee issue.
