Elie Okobo is expected to sign a contract with AS Monaco of France’s top league, according to BasketNews’ Domantas Urbonas.
Okobo, who was a second-round pick of the Suns in 2018, played for ASVEL in France’s top league this past season. He was also the subject of interest from teams such as Barcelona, Fenerbahce, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Virtus Bologna, but Okobo has reportedly decided to sign with Monaco. However, that could change if an NBA team expresses interest in signing Okobo this summer.

Former Phoenix Suns guard Elie Okobo has signed a deal with the French squad, ASVEL, according to the teams’ Twitter page.

Okobo played just two NBA seasons with the Suns before a brief stint with the Brooklyn Nets’ G-League affiliate this season. In 13 games in the G-League bubble with the Long Island Nets, Okobo averaged eight points and five assists. He will now head back to Europe, where his career began before being selected with the 31st overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

The Nets have waived Elie Okobo and Paul Eboua.
Okobo signed a contract with Brooklyn back in November, but then he left the team for a personal issue and didn’t play at all during the preseason. The Nets have too many guards anyway, so he had to go.

Elie Okobo has yet to join his new Nets teammates and will not be available for Friday’s exhibition against the Celtics.
Okobo and the Nets came to terms on a deal in late-November, but he has still yet to join the team. Even if he were with Brooklyn from the first day of training camp, Okobo was not going to offer up much in the way of fantasy value.

Former Suns PG Elie Okobo is signing a contract with the Nets.
The terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but it’s possible this is just a training camp deal. Okobo has practically no shot at minutes in Brooklyn so this isn’t a good spot for his dynasty value. In two seasons with the Suns, Okobo averaged 4.8 points, 2.2 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.6 triples in 15.5 minutes.

The Suns waived guard Elie Okobo on Monday.
The move was presumably made to keep them under the luxury tax after signing Langston Galloway. Okobo will likely be in someone’s training camp this season and should get at least a two-way contract from someone.

  • NBA Center #46
Aron Baynes (knee) and Elie Okobo (ankle) have been upgraded to questionable for Tuesday’s game against the 76ers.
Neither of these guys has logged a single minute in The Bubble, so even if they’re cleared for today’s game, we wouldn’t anticipate them seeing enough minutes to impact fantasy hoops.

  • NBA Point Guard #2
Elie Okobo (sprained right ankle) is listed as out for Saturday’s game against the Heat.
Okobo’s absence won’t have an impact on the Suns perimeter rotation, as he was already well down in the pecking order and has yet to play in Orlando.

Elie Okobo (right ankle sprain) will not suit up for Thursday’s game against the Pacers.
Okobo hasn’t actually taken the court for any of these seeding games, so he must have tweaked his ankle at practice. Since he’s not in the rotation, there’s no fantasy spin to his absence from the active roster.

  • NBA Point Guard #2
Elie Okobo (personal) saw 14 minutes off the bench during Tuesday’s scrimmage, accounting for six points, one 3-pointer, one assist and one steal in a win over the Raptors.
This was Okobo’s first time getting into the mix after a delayed arrival to the Orlando Bubble due to a personal issue, and while he’s now available, he won’t see enough minutes while Ricky Rubio is healthy and active to make an impact in fantasy hoops.
