Here are some final-month rankings. With only two extra roster spots per team limiting the influx of new players, this September shouldn’t be quite as crazy as usual, though COVID might have something to say about that. As always, players are ranked by position and then combined into an overall top 300 list.

  • Trea Turner debuts at No. 1 on the second base list, and he already has his 20-game eligibility at second base for next year, when he should again top these rankings. It’s a nice little boost to his overall value, too, given that shortstop has been so much stronger in shallow leagues than second base of late.

  • Since he injured his elbow diving for a ball while playing right field for just the second time in his life, it looks like the Pirates won’t get to take much of a look at Michael Chavis after all. That’s quite a shame, and not just because the Pirates were playing Chavis out of position so that they could use Wilmer Difo at second base. On the plus side, it does apparently mean that Hoy Park will see a significant role in September. Rodolfo Castro would be more interesting, but he probably isn’t ready for the majors just yet, and Park is worth looking at to see if he can be more than a utilityman going forward.
