Christian Yelich is absent from the Brewers’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s matchup against the Braves.

If you’re going to give Yelich a day off for rest, doing so against one of the best left-handers in baseball in Chris Sale makes a great deal of sense. Gary Sanchez will function as the Brewers’ designated hitter on Saturday and will bat cleanup.

Contreras sees as much time behind the dish as anyone in the league these days, so giving him a break on occasion to keep him fresh is always a good idea. Gary Sanchez will do the catching for the Brewers on Sunday and will bat sixth against a host of Cubs’ relievers.

Christian Yelich is out of the Brewers lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cubs and David Peterson.

Even though he’s hitting .263/.344/.421 against southpaws, this makes three straight times that Yelich has sat in games in which the Brewers have faced a lefty. That .765 OPS is actually better than his .730 mark against righties. The Brewers also have Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell on the bench tonight. Gary Sánchez is DHing.

William Contreras is not in Milwaukee’s starting lineup on Thursday against the Guardians.

It appears to just be a routine day off for the veteran backstop, who is hitting .276/.308/.414 through his first 65 plate appearances in June with two homers and nine RBI. Contreras’ power has been disappointing, as it was in 2025, and he now has just a .401 slugging percentage over his last 954 plate appearances. Gary Sánchez will draw the start at catcher against Guards LHP Parker Messick.

Brice Turang is not in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Phillies.

If you’re going to get an occasional day off, doing so against Phillies’ left-hander Cristopher Sanchez isn’t a bad idea. Fellow left-handed hitters Christian Yelich, Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick are also on the pine for the Brewers in this one. Turang is having a strong season at the dish, slashing .261/.378/.457 with 10 homers, 42 RBI, 53 runs scored and 12 stolen bases through his first 296 plate appearances.

Gary Sánchez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and three RBI against the Rockies on Sunday.

Sánchez’ home run was his sixth. He hit a two-run shot off Jaden Hill in the sixth inning. Sánchez is the backup catcher, but got the start with Christian Yelich getting the day off and William Contreras sliding into the DH spot. Sánchez is hitting .206 with a .798 OPS.

Christian Yelich is not in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Kyle Freeland doesn’t really qualify as a tough left-hander that fantasy managers would want Yelich to sit against, but he’ll get a breather in this one as the Brewers continue to manage his workload in an effort to keep him healthy for the remainder of the season. William Contreras will serve as the team’s designated hitter in this one with Gary Sanchez working behind the plate and batting fifth for the Brewers.

Jackson Chourio is not in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Astros in Houston.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine day off for the dynamic 22-year-old outfielder. William Contreras is also getting a breather for the Brewers in this one. Sal Frelick will start in right field and bat seventh while Gary Sanchez does the catching and hits sixth for the Brewers against Astros’ right-hander Tatsuya Imai on Sunday.

Christian Yelich singled in the tying run in the bottom of the eighth as the Brewers came back to beat the Cardinals 2-1 on Wednesday.

After getting no-hit for seven innings by Dustin May, the Brewers picked up all three of their hits in a five-batter span in the eighth. Yelich made it a 1-1 game, and the Brewers went ahead afterwards on Masyn Winn’s error on a grounder from Jackson Chrourio. Yelich led off today for the second game in a row after batting cleanup in his first seven games back from the IL. He’s hitting .280/.337/.484 with 16 runs scored and 16 RBI through 25 games on the season.

Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Cardinals on Monday.

Yelich homered off Matthew Liberatore in the first, going deep for the fourth time in 23 games this season. He later singled and should have scored in the eighth, but he botched the slide into home, with the cleat getting stuck in the ground in front of the plate. Yelich is batting .262/.326/.476 with 15 RBI through 23 games this season.

He had just five appearances before being placed on the IL in early May with elbow inflammation. This doesn’t impact Sousa’s timeline to return at all, but it does clear a 40-man spot for the return of Cristian Javier.

Seems like an odd send down as Graceffo had a 3.35 ERA in 35 games (40 1/3 innings pitched) for the Cardinals so far this year, even if the 18:19 K/BB ratio isn’t ideal. He’ll probably be back in a few days, but the Cardinals needed the roster spot with Ryne Stanek off the paternity list.

Not great. We’d seen no sign of Rodón being hurt in his last start, so hopefully this is something that just needs to be managed rather than something that could lead to surgery. More updates to come, assuredly. Rodón had a 3.30 ERA in nine starts so far this year, striking out 52 and allowing just 32 hits in 46 1/3 innings pitched.

Padres manager Craig Stammen said they’ll be “overly cautious” on LHP Randy Vásquez (fainting) but that he’s “all clear” on x-rays on his ankle.

X-Rays were negative, tests came back clean, but it sounds like Vásquez demonstrated some concussion symptoms and it wouldn’t be surprising if he wound up on the 7-day IL.
