Tatis had come into this game hitless over his last three games. He made up for it against the Rockies, collecting hits in all five of his plate appearances while driving in two runs and crossing home once. The 27-year-old star is slashing .285/.353/.400 with eight homers, 54 runs scored, 49 RBI, and 25 steals across 469 plate appearances.

García and Dylan Crews went back-to-back in the fourth inning, though it was off different pitchers after CJ Van Eyk replaced Mason Fluharty. The two-run shot for García gave him 73 RBI, tying him for fifth in the majors. He’s already three ahead of his previous career high for 70 RBI in 140 games in 2024.

Cavalli’s fourth straight quality start saw him settle for just three strikeouts, but it wasn’t an issue against the often-punchless Blue Jays. He finishes the month of July 3-0 with a 3.08 ERA in five starts. Next up for him is a start in Atlanta. He fanned 10 while allowing two runs over five innings in his previous start against the Braves back in April.

Beeter has earned three saves over the last five days to bring his season total to 11. His control issues can make things interesting, but he’s walked just two batters over his last 10 appearances, which have resulted in one win, two losses, five saves, one blown save and two holds.

Truly bizarre. Bieber had never walked six in a game before, much less in an inning. Three of the walks came with the bases loaded to force in runs. Bieber said after the game that he was having a tough time gripping the ball after an hourlong rain delay to start the game, and he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt for now. He’s due to make his next start Monday against the Astros.

Springer is 12-for-34 with two homers, eight RBI and just two strikeouts in his last nine games. He’s batting cleanup right now, but since he’s heating up, the Jays could go back to him in the leadoff spot soon.

Moniak took Michael King deep for a two-run homer in the third inning to highlight a four-run frame for Colorado. He later drove in a third run on a double in the seventh for his second extra-base hit of the game. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .279/.323/.567 with 17 homers and 46 RBI across 260 plate appearances.

Miller was summoned in the top of the ninth with the game tied against the Rockies. He retired all three batters on swinging strikes, punching out the side before the Padres walked it off in the bottom of the frame to give Miller the win. It was his third win of the season to go with 27 saves, a 0.81 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and an 83/15 K/BB ratio across 44 2/3 innings.

King held the Rockies scoreless through two frames before running into trouble in the third. Willi Castro led things off with a solo homer. Two hits brought a second run in and left a runner on for Mickey Moniak, who took King deep for a two-run blast. King settled in to toss three more scoreless innings, ending his day after six frames with six strikeouts. The 31-year-old right-hander had given up five runs over his last four starts before having his momentum stalled on Tuesday. He’ll take a 3.38 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and a 109/50 K/BB ratio across 125 1/3 innings into a start against the Giants in San Diego on Sunday.

Lorenzen tossed a scoreless first inning, then gave up two runs on a walk and two hits in the second. He gave the Rockies two more scoreless innings, then departed with two runners on and no outs in the fifth at 93 pitches with two strikeouts. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 6.54 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, and an 80/40 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings into a start against the Rays in Colorado on Monday.
