Ranger Suarez recorded eight strikeouts and allowed three runs over six innings on Monday in a win over the Nationals.
Suarez deserves a ton of credit for settling in after coughing up a gargantuan leadoff homer to James Wood. He shook it off and managed to keep the Nationals at bay into the middle innings until CJ Abrams came through with a two-run double in the sixth. He allowed just six baserunners and needed 97 pitches to navigate six frames. He’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts since the beginning of June. He’ll close out a two-start week with a tasty road matchup against the Angels on Sunday.
