Dodgers optioned RHP Wyatt Mills to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Mills retreats to the minors after striking out the side in a perfect frame during Tuesday’s showdown against the Athletics. The 31-year-old has allowed three runs over 4 1/3 frames for the Dodgers this season.

James Schiano cannot understate the leap that Pete Crow-Armstrong has taken in 2026, who now is the fourth player ever to reach 40 HRs and 30 stolen bases in the last ten years.

According to his mother, Jamie Arnold suffered broken bones in his cheek and a corneal abrasion when he was hit in the face by a comebacker in Tuesday’s start for Triple-A Las Vegas.

It’s relatively positive news, as Dawn Dredger Arnold wrote that it “could’ve been so much worse.” Arnold, the 11th overall pick in the 2025 draft, should be ready to go next spring. He had a 3.42 ERA and a 130/51 K/BB in 118 1/3 innings this year. Last night’s start was his first for Las Vegas after five months in Double-A.

Nationals recalled RHP Eddy Yean from Triple-A Rochester.

He takes the bullpen spot of Zak Kent, who was sent down after Tuesday’s game. Yean has allowed two earned runs in 10 innings for the Nationals this season.

Jordan Walker is getting a day off Wednesday versus the Giants.

It’s the first time Walker has sat since he missed a couple of games in early August with knee inflammation. The Cardinals have Bryan Torres and Joshua Báez manning the outfield corners today against the Giants.

After starting the Giants’ first 146 games, Rafael Devers is taking a seat Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Andre Pallante just suddenly became a significantly better streaming option. Manager Tony Vitello spoke yesterday about giving Devers a day off, though it’s unclear if Devers wanted it. He certainly doesn’t seem to need it, having hit .393/.493/.918 with nine homers in his last 16 games. Turner Hill is DHing today, opening up left field for Grant McCray.

Denzel Clarke is on the bench Wednesday for a fourth straight game.

Clarke was included in the lineup against lefties in his first two games back from the IL last week, but he’s since started just one of seven games. If he’s not going to play much this month, with the A’s missing most of their best players, it doesn’t bode well him claiming a spot in the 2027 outfield. He might be the league’s best defensive center fielder, but his bat leaves a great deal to be desired.

George Springer is out of the Blue Jays lineup for a third time in four games Wednesday against the A’s.

Technically, he’s sitting against a lefty today, which is extremely unusual. But it’s just an opener in Brady Basso before the A’s go to a righty. The Jays aren’t saying anything about an injury for Springer, though he did have a shoulder issue last month. He quieted down some last week, but he’s hitting .355/.394/.565 in his past 18 games. The Jays have Jesús Sánchez DHing today, but he’s batting eighth in an effort to keep him away from Basso.

Hao-Yu Lee is on the bench Wednesday for the second time in three games.

The Tigers have taken a liking to Josh Peck at shortstop, leaving less room for Lee and Javier Báez, who is on the bench for a fourth straight game. Lee had started 17 games in a row before sitting Monday. He’s gone 1-for-15 in his last five games, which surely isn’t helping matters.

Ryan Jeffers is out of the Twins lineup Wednesday for the first time in 10 games.

It’s a planned day off, though he did appear to get his bell rung late in Tuesday’s contest. Jeffers had caught nine games in a row. With him resting today, Victor Caratini is starting for the first time since Aug. 29.

Braves selected the contract of LHP Bailey Falter from Triple-A Gwinnett

Falter was acquired from the Royals at the trade deadline and has pitched 10 2/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A for the Braves with an 11/2 K/BB ratio. He should operate in a multi-inning relief role for the Braves.

Braves designated RHP Elieser Hernández for assignment.

The Braves are entering Carlos Carrasco territory with Hernández, who has been designated for assignment multiple times this season and then re-signed to a minor league deal. We wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens this time as well.
