    Padres released INF Pablo Reyes.

Reyes, 32, was hitting .310/.408/.491 in 258 plate appearance for Triple-A El Paso, showing that he’d be a reasonable backup infielder. It’s possible that another team wanted to give him a better chance than he currently has at getting back to the big leagues.

Padres transferred INF/OF Luis Rengifo to the 60-day injured list.

Rengifo will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee. The versatile 29-year-old suffered the injury while making a relay throw over the weekend. He’s set to undergo surgery to address the complete ACL tear and an MCL sprain in the near future.

Pirates transferred C/1B Endy Rodríguez to the 60-day injured list.

Rodríguez is expected to miss 7-9 months after undergoing left hip surgery last week. The 26-year-old former top prospect figures to be ready to return to game action at some point towards the end of spring training. There’s a chance he’s non-tendered by the Pirates this offseason if they decide to move forward with Rafael Flores Jr. as their primary backstop.

Mets recalled OF Nick Morabito from Triple-A Syracuse.

Morabito returns to New York’s outfield equation with Luis Robert Jr. no longer in the picture. The 23-year-old rookie went hitless in 11 at-bats over five games with the club earlier this season. He’s unlikely to be relevant for fantasy purposes.

Giants signed INF Darren Baker to a minor league contract.

Now this is pretty cool. Baker’s father, Dusty, was the club’s manager 1993 through 2002. The 27-year-old hasn’t been back in the big leagues since he got into nine games for the Nationals back in 2024. He was in camp with the White Sox as a non-roster invitee earlier this year.

Giants selected the contract of LHP Cesar Perdomo from Triple-A Sacramento.

Perdomo earns his first shot in the majors as a September call-up after compiling a 4.43 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 125/42 K/BB ratio across 120 innings in the upper minors this season. He’s most likely ticketed for long relief work initially.
