Jake Bauers hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the seventh as the Brewers bested the Diamondbacks 3-2 on Sunday.

Bauers’ homer off left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez made it 2-1 in the seventh, and the Brewers added one more later in the inning before holding on to win. Bauers got the nod over Blake Perkins today, starting against a lefty for the 13th time in 29 chances this year. His 16 homers, 51 runs scored and 54 RBI are all career highs, though he still has fewer plate appearances this season (314) than he did in 2018 (388), 2019 (423) and 2024 (346). His .861 OPS is nearly 200 points better than his career mark of .672 from 2018-25.

Jake Bauers homered and scored three runs while going 3-for-4 in a win for the Brewers over the Reds on Tuesday.

Bauers took advantage of a mistake from Rhett Lowder and hit it 425 feet to center. He also singled twice, and came around to score on both of those knocks. That homer was the 15th of the season for the 30-year-old, putting him just under a 30-homer pace. To say this has been the best season of Bauers’ career thus far is quite the understatement.

Jake Bauers went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI triple against the Reds on Tuesday.

Bauers came up in the sixth inning with two outs in a scoreless game and hit a go-ahead RBI triple. The Brewers would add another run and go on to win 2-0. The 30-year-old outfielder is enjoying a career season with an .869 OPS, 13 home runs and 47 RBI.

Brice Turang is not in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Phillies.

If you’re going to get an occasional day off, doing so against Phillies’ left-hander Cristopher Sanchez isn’t a bad idea. Fellow left-handed hitters Christian Yelich, Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick are also on the pine for the Brewers in this one. Turang is having a strong season at the dish, slashing .261/.378/.457 with 10 homers, 42 RBI, 53 runs scored and 12 stolen bases through his first 296 plate appearances.

Jake Bauers went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk on Friday against the Phillies.

Bauers crushed a three-run shot off Andrew Painter as Jacob Misiorowski decimated the Phillies on the other side. That longball was Bauers’ 13th of the season – a new career-best – along with 43 RBI and a .277/.376/.515 slash-line across 58 games in a somewhat shocking mid-career breakout.

Jake Bauers went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Brewers to a 9-7 win over the Rockies on Friday.

Bauers doubled to lead off the second inning and scored on a groundout. He later came up big in the late innings, knocking a base hit to drive in a run in the ninth before giving the team the lead with a two-run double in the tenth. The 30-year-old slugger is enjoying an excellent season with the Brewers, hitting .277/.361/.497 with 10 homers, 35 runs scored, and 39 RBI across 216 plate appearances.

Jackson Chourio is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Giants.

It appears to be a routine off day for Chourio following a stretch of 24 starts over a 25-game span since returning from the injured list back on May 4. The 22-year-old franchise cornerstone is riding a four-game hitting streak that includes his second round-tripper of the season along with a pair of multi-hit performances. It’ll be Jake Bauers heading out to left field with Andrew Vaughn getting a chance to hit second in his place.

Jake Bauers homered for the only runs of the game in the Brewers’ 2-0 win over the Astros.

Bauers’ homer off Tatsuya Imai was hit 347 feet into the Crawford Boxes. Statcast says it would have left the yard at seven ballparks. Bauers also had the game’s hardest-hit ball, a 109-mph liner to left-center, but that one turned into an out. Bauers is batting .280/.351/.491, so he hasn’t lost any playing time with Christian Yelich back. Instead, it’s often Andrew Vaughn sitting right now.

Jake Bauers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday’s win over the Cardinals.

Bauers’ home run was his eighth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Michael McGreevy in the fourth inning. Bauers continues to produce, hitting .290 with an .858 OPS. He’ll continue to be a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching.

Christian Yelich is absent from the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Dodgers.

The Brewers are being sure to mix in ample off-days for the 34-year-old slugger in an attempt to keep him healthy. Jake Bauers will function as the team’s designated hitter and will bat cleanup against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.

Garrett Mitchell (back) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s tilt against the Dodgers.

Mitchell exited Wednesday’s game against the Cubs with tightness in his back, and he hasn’t been able to return to the lineup. He’s considered day-to-day, but Jake Bauers gets the start in his absence.

We know Snell threw a bullpen on June 26th, and it appears that he threw another one this weekend, but there aren’t many more details about how many, or what type of, pitches he threw. We would still assume that he will begin facing live hitters if this next bullpen is successful and then begin a rehab assignment. All of that seems to indicate that we could be looking at an early August return for Snell, if all goes well.

The Red Sox are referring to the visit as more about “peace of mind,” but it’s obviously concerning that Anthony has made no substantial progress since spraining his wrist and tearing a ligament in his ring finger over two months ago. The 22-year-old will see Dr. Gary Lourie, who is a hand specialist and Braves’ head team physician.

The homer was his 13th, so power production hasn’t really been his issue. However, Duran came into this one hitless in his previous four games. It was his first multihit game since June 16 and his first time reaching base safely three times in a game since May 30. His OBP is sitting at .259, compared to .346, .342 and .332 the previous three years.

Ryan Johnson surrendered five runs — two earned — in four innings Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Johnson gave up a two-run homer in the second and a three-run blast in the third, but the runs from the latter were all unearned after a Zach Neto error extended the inning. It brings Johnson’s total of homers allowed to eight in 28 1/3 innings this season and 12 in 43 innings total as a major leaguer. He’s definitely throwing better now than he has at any other point since debuting with the Angels, but he remains far away from contributing in fantasy leagues. He’ll likely face the Twins on Saturday.

Contreras’s 20th homer came in his 86th game of the season. Last year, he hit 20 in 135 games for the Cardinals. He’s now just four shy of his career high from 2019, when he hit 24 in 105 games for the Cubs. Unfortunately, this might be Contreras’s last action for a bit. MLB is expected to hand down a decision on his appeal of a seven-game suspension on Monday. Even if it’s dropped to six games, that’d still put him out until after the break.

Machado was intentionally walked with two on and two out in the fifth, after which Jack Dreyer got Gavin Sheets to ground out. He came up again with two on in the seventh, but this time there was a righty in the game, no base open and one out. He was pitched to, and he homered just over the wall in center on an 0-2 middle-middle fastball from Kyle Hurt. It was Machado’s fourth homer in eight games and sixth in 14 games.
