Braves option Murphy back to Triple-A after debut

He added his 26th stolen base of the season in the sixth inning. It’s his second three-walk game of the season. Cruz has stuffed the stat sheet in 78 games this year, with 17 homers. If he hadn’t missed a large chunk of time, he’d probably be regarded as one of the best fantasy picks this year as he’s rebounded nicely from 2025’s .200 batting average. He’s now hitting .270/.362/.483 on the season.

It was one of two Giants hits and the only one that went for extra bases. Lee’s hitting just .212/.317/.250 in his last 52 at bats and has seen his playing time shortened a bit as the Giants play out the string.

Mason Montgomery go brrrrr. The 26-year-old lefthander has not allowed a run in his last 15 games and has 24 strikeouts in said innings. He’s been an excellent waiver wire pickup since winning the Pirates closer derby.

Bachar has allowed only seven hits in his last 15 innings, though he has walked 10 in the process. He’s become a useful opener for the Pirates since being dealt over by the Marlins at the trade deadline. In this case, unpaired from Carmen Mlodzinski, he ceded Khristian Curtis his first MLB win.

Tidwell allowed two runs in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk and a bases-loaded hit by pitch. He remained walk-prone, but allowed just two hits and held the Pirates to six hard-hit balls, the most dangerous of which was a Bryan Reynolds’ warning-track flyout. Over his last seven appearances (six starts) Tidwell has thrown 32 2/3 innings with a 5.23 ERA. He’s in line to take on the Cardinals next week but is not a recommended start.

He’s been on the roster almost all year outside of a small stint on the 7-day concussion injured list. It’s been a disastrous run out for the Marlins as he’s hit .199/.306/.259 in 194 plate appearances after coming over from the Blue Jays in the big Dub Gleed trade. The 25-year-old could find himself claimed on waivers.

The 23-year-old has a .333/.333/.444 line in nine plate appearances with the Marlins this year. He doesn’t figure to come into immediate everyday playing time but perhaps he can find his way into the lineup if the Marlins drift out of the NL Wild Card race.

He cleared waivers and will remain in the organization as infield depth.

He homered in his two-game, five-plate appearance cameo with the Pirates earlier this year and has a .184/.333/.418 batting line in 245 minor-league plate appearances between Triple-A Indianapolis, Triple-A Syracuse, and Double-A Altoona.

The 26-year-old has one scoreless inning at the bigs this year and an unsightly 7.89 ERA in 31 appearances (seven starts) for Triple-A Norfolk. He’ll try to turn it around in a new organization.
