Braves option Owen Murphy to Triple-A Gwinnett

The 36-year-old right-hander came away from the session feeling good. The Rangers will wait and see how he’s feeling on Friday before determining whether the next step in his throwing progression will be another bullpen or a live batting practice session.

Davis was already set to miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to his hamstring issue, this was done as a procedural move to clear a spot on the M’s 40-man roster for the addition of Stuart Fairchild on Thursday. Davis is expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of the 2027 campaign.

Fairchild, 30, has spent the bulk of the season at the Triple-A level where he has slashed .290/.416/.520 with 11 homers, 37 RBI and 17 stolen bases over 311 plate appearances. He’ll add outfield depth with Victor Robles heading to the family medical emergency list.

The 29-year-old outfielder will be away from the team for at least a few days while he tends to a family emergency. Stuart Fairchild was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move to take his place on the M’s active roster.

The 29-year-old outfielder was released by the Pirates in mid-August after slashing .301/.386/.485 with eight homers, 32 RBI and three stolen bases in 237 plate appearances over 63 games. He’ll add extra outfield depth for the Red at Triple-A Louisville.

White was pulled from Tuesdays’ game due to soreness in his lower back and has now missed two consecutive games since. If he isn’t ready to go for the weekend, the A’s may be forced to place him on the injured list. Jeff McNeil will slide over and cover first base while Michael Stefanic will draw a start at second base and will bat sixth against Mariners’ rookie left-hander Kade Anderson.

If you’re going to have to take a day off on occasion, doing so against Tarik Skubal isn’t the worst idea in the world. Leo Bernal will start in his place at first base and will bat fifth for the Cardinals on Thursday night.

Ohtani continues due deal with soreness in his biceps and his knee, and while it’s not enough to shut him down for the season, it sounds like the Dodgers are going to more careful with him and give him plenty of rest days down the stretch to ensure that he’s ready to go for the postseason. Alex Call will function as the Dodgers’ designated hitter on Thursday and will bat eighth against Quinn Mathews and the Cardinals.

It appears to be just a routine night off for the Rays’ shortstop. Jorge Mateo is set to start in his place and could wind up running wild against Rangers’ right-hander Cal Quantrill given his struggles to hold baserunners.

He’ll oppose Tigers’ right-hander Keider Montero in that one. That leaves Foster Griffin to take on Andrew Sears in the nightcap in Cleveland on Friday. Allen has pitched decently in his limited action with the big league club this season, posting a 3.77 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 15/4 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings in six appearances (one start). He’s not a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes.
