Rockies re-signed RHP John Brebbia to a minor league contract.

Brebbia elected free agency last weekend rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque, but after exploring his options on the open market, the veteran right-hander decided that his best opportunity was to remain with the Rockies. The 36-year-old has compiled a 10.38 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 4 1/3 frames in his three outings with the big league club this season.

The 36-year-old held a 1.62 ERA in 16 2/3 innings at Triple-A Albuquerque and made three rough appearances in the bigs with the Rockies earlier this year. He exercised his opt out and jumped over to the Red Sox.

The 36-year-old righty was designated for assignment by the Rockies earlier in the week and opted to explore the open market rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque. Brebbia has posted a 10.38 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 4 1/3 innings in three appearances with the Rockies this season.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
It seems highly unlikely Brebbia will attract any interest on waivers after allowing five runs over 4 1/3 innings for the Rockies after being brought up back on June 22. The 36-year-old veteran will presumably elect free agency instead of accepting an outright assignment.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Brebbia joins Colorado’s relief mix after spending a couple weeks in the minors where he reeled off nine scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts and zero walks for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 36-year-old journeyman reliever has made 376 career appearances between five different organizations since 2017.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
The 35-year-old right-hander was granted his release by the Twins last week after posting a 6.20 ERA over 20 1/3 innings at Triple-A St. Paul. He has a history of being a quality bullpen arm, which should be enough to earn him a shot with the Rockies at some point this summer, but his days of fantasy relevancy are long gone.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #60
Brebbia had an opt-out clause that he activated after not being added to the 40-man roster. The 35-year-old has a 6.20 ERA in 20 1/2 innings at Triple-A this season.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #60
There are few teams with a clearer path to relief innings than the rebuilding Twins. Brebbia heads to Triple-A St. Paul as emergency middle relief depth after failing to crack Colorado’s season-opening bullpen earlier this spring. The 35-year-old veteran posted an inflated 7.71 ERA across 22 appearances between the Tigers and Braves last year but has made 376 relief appearances in the big leagues since 2017.

Bellozo and Brebbia were in Rockies camp this spring as non-roster invitees attempting to make the club’s season-opening relief mix. Bellozo will presumably head to Triple-A Albuquerque to open the year while Brebbia has been cut loose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Brebbia bolsters Colorado’s bullpen depth heading into next spring after making 22 relief appearances between the Tigers and Braves last season, finishing with a bloated 7.71 ERA across 23 1/3 innings of work. The 35-year-old journeyman has made 376 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2017.

Brebbia won’t be eligible for the postseason, if the Red Sox qualify, but he provides them with some experienced relief depth for the home stretch. The 35-year-old veteran has been hit hard with a bloated 7.71 ERA across 23 1/3 innings of work this season between the Tigers and Braves. He’s made 376 relief appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2017.

Kyle Leahy struck out four while allowing two hits and two walks across four scoreless innings on Sunday against the Phillies.

Leahy and four Cardinals relievers had the team in line for a victory before closer Riley O’Brien imploded, allowing six runs in the ninth. The notable takeaway is that Leahy was pulled at 63 pitches, and St. Louis has made it clear his workload will be managed down the stretch. He’s up to 126 1/3 innings this season after throwing 88 in 2025, the vast majority out of the bullpen. St. Louis’ rotation recently suffered injuries to Hunter Dobbins and Andre Pallante, so it remains to be seen how the Cardinals handle Leahy going forward. His next start lines up at home against the Pirates.

Janson Junk received a no-decision on Sunday against the Nationals, allowing one earned run on two hits over 4 2/3 innings pitched.

Junk struck out two in the outing. It’s a strong outcome against the highest-scoring offense in MLB, but Washington was without James Wood and CJ Abrams, plus Curtis Mead and Luis García Jr. Junk’s streaming upside is limited with so few strikeouts and so little length. He has a rematch with the Nationals in his next start, this time on the road.

Jackson Kent took the loss on Sunday in Miami, allowing three earned runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Kent struck out five and walked three while throwing 90 pitches. The 2024 fourth-round draft pick has now made three big-league starts with 14 strikeouts, 11 walks, and an 8.03 ERA. Neither his pitch-modeling results nor his ERA estimators suggest better days are ahead. He’s set for a rematch with the Marlins in his next appearance.

Heriberto Hernández went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and an RBI as the Marlins defeated the Nationals 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Hernández drove in Agustín Ramírez with his first-inning double. He was later robbed of another extra-base hit as Nationals outfielder Jacob Young climbed the wall to take it away. Hernández has shown some power upside this season while hitting lefties more reliably than righties. He’s been batting inside the top three of the order whenever Miami faces a southpaw. The Marlins could see up to four left-handers this week with matchups against the Red Sox and Nationals.

Xavier Edwards went 1-for-4 with two RBI as the Marlins defeated the Nationals 6-2 on Sunday.

Edwards appeared to be breaking out early, as the light-hitting infielder had a .166 ISO through May. Entering Sunday, that mark was just .036 since June 1. His stolen-base attempt rate has also fallen for the second straight season. He swiped 31 bases in a half-season in 2024, but he was down to 27 last year and sits at 19 in 2026 with five weeks to go.

Bryan Woo completed his bullpen session Sunday, but no decision was immediately made about when he’ll slot back into Seattle’s rotation.

Woo, who experienced shoulder soreness in his last start, was apparently encouraged by his performance today, but it doesn’t sound like he’s pain-free. Ideally, he’d face the Phillies on Wednesday, but that probably hinges on how he feels tomorrow.

Nick Martinez earned the win on Sunday in Baltimore, throwing six scoreless frames while allowing one hit and no walks.

Martinez threw 86 pitches while striking out four, lowering his ERA to 2.93. It was a bounce-back following his worst start of the season earlier this week. The performance was much-needed for the Rays, who entered the day having lost seven of nine and given up ground to the Yankees in the AL East. Martinez’s season-long ERA has been built mostly on a dominant stretch in April and May, but he’s still capable of outings like this and remains a near must-start in fantasy. He’s scheduled to pitch at home against the Padres next time out.

Bryan Baker earned the save in Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Orioles, allowing one run while striking out one in the ninth.

Baker gave up a solo homer to Colton Cowser to begin the ninth. It was worrisome after he took the loss in extra innings on Saturday, though that came with the ghost runner starting on second base. Baker then settled down and retired the side on 12 pitches, securing his league-leading 37th save of the season.

Shane Baz took the loss on Sunday against the Rays, allowing three runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings pitched.

Baz struck out three and walked three in the 96-pitch outing. It was his third time facing his former team this season, but the first two went better than Sunday’s, with 15 strikeouts and two earned runs allowed across 13 frames. Baz appeared headed for another gem against them before three runs came around to score in the top of the sixth, ultimately handing him his league-leading 14th loss. He’ll look to rebound against the A’s in Sacramento next time out.

Chandler Simpson went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI as the Rays defeated the Orioles 3-1 on Sunday.

Simpson was also caught stealing, but the bigger takeaway is that he extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Entering Sunday, he was hitting .393 in his last 13 games, and he’s been in the top half of the Rays’ lineup more consistently as a result. He remains without a big-league homer through 231 career games, but he’s hitting over .300 with 79 thefts in those contests. That makes him more than a one-category performer in fantasy.
