Yet another hamate bone fracture returner today, Pasquantino hit a disappointing .224/.309/.350 before heading to the injured list in mid-June. It’s a surprisingly quick return for Pasquantino, but he figures to reassume everyday duties and push Jac Caglianone back to the outfield, though he’s surprisingly not in the lineup tonight. Pasquantino is a worthwhile add in leagues where he was dropped, but his expected stats were all rough before the injury, so he shouldn’t exactly be seen as a must-play option.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Vinnie Pasquantino (hand) could return on Friday for the weekend series against the Orioles.

Pasquantino suffered a hamate bone fracture on June 13th. He began his rehab assignment on Monday, and it sounds like the Royals don’t need to see much more from him. If Pasquantino does return this weekend, that would push Jac Caglianone back to the outfield, which would likely mean the end of regular playing time for Tyler Tolbert.

Vinnie Pasquantino (hand) went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Omaha.

Pasquantino kicked off his rehab assignment by reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. The 28-year-old first baseman figures to get a couple additional tune-up contests under his belt before returning to Kansas City later this week. He’s been working his way back from a hamate fracture since mid-June.

Pasquantino figures to make it back to Kansas City before next week’s All-Star break after hitting the shelf with a hamate fracture back in mid-June. The 28-year-old first baseman was the driving force being Team Italy’s remarkable run during the World Baseball Classic, but he’s dndured a down year at the plate, hitting .224/.309/.350 with six homers, 32 RBI and three steals in 68 games.

There’s optimism Pasquantino will be ready for a minor league rehab assignment at some point next week. The 28-year-old first baseman hit the injured list with a dreaded hamate fracture back in mid-June. It sounds like there’s a chance he returns before the All-Star break.

Royals placed 1B Vinnie Pasquantino on 10-day injured list with a fractured right hamate bone.

It was a bad day for hamate bones in the American League Central on Saturday as both Pasquantino and Guardians’ third baseman José Ramírez fractured theirs while swinging the bat. The 28-year-old slugger is expected to miss at least four-to-six weeks. John Rave was recalled from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move on Sunday. Jac Caglianone is expected to see the bulk of the action at first base while Pasquantino is shelved.

The Royals didn’t confirm that he broke the bone on his fifth-inning swing, but that’s pretty much the only hamate injury there is. If it is a break, he’ll miss at least four-to-six weeks. John Rave or Josh Rojas could replace him on the roster. Rave makes more sense, since Jac Caglianone will likely play a lot of first base.

Vinnie Pasquantino left Saturday’s game in the fifth inning with an apparent right arm injury.

Pasquantino popped up, grabbed his wrist on the followthrough and then went straight down toward the clubhouse after the ball was caught. Isaac Collins replaced him in the game, with Jac Caglianone moving from right field to first. If Pasquantino lands on the IL, the Royals could call up John Rave for the outfield and play Caglianone at first base regularly.

Vinnie Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and two RBI as the Royals defeated the Reds 5-2 on Wednesday.

Pasquantino has yet to find the power stroke that launched 32 homers and drove in 113 runs a season ago. His barrel rate, bat speed, and fast swing rate are all noticeably down through two months of play. He has only missed four games and continues to bat in the heart of the Royals’ lineup.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro is shaking things up by moving Carter to the leadoff spot for the second time this season to face Rangers righty Kumar Rocker. Maikel Garcia has been moved to third in the order with Vinnie Pasquantino hitting cleanup. The 22-year-old rookie backstop has been mired in an extended tailspin at the plate, hitting .198 (19-for-96) with one homer, 11 RBI and 32 strikeouts over his last 30 games.

Things have finally – hopefully – begun to turn for Pasquantino. Before this contest, he’d hit safely in five straight games with two doubles and two walks over that span. Then, another hit-less night here pushed his average back below the Mendoza line. Also, a game like this where he only swung-and-missed one time, but also didn’t have a hard-hit ball sort of underscores what could be his problem this season as he’s shortened up his swing and lost plenty of bat speed in the process.

The 34-year-old righty elected free agency at the end of June rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Iowa from the Cubs. He adds extra pitching depth for the Royals and should get an opportunity with the big league club in relatively short order.
