Mets placed 1B/3B Mark Vientos on the 10-day injured list with a right hand fracture.

He’ll miss several weeks, perhaps enough to knock him out until September. Vientos hasn’t been much of a regular since his 2024 breakout, and proved completely unable to hit right-handed pitchers when given the chance during Jorge Polanco’s absence. He can be dropped in most fantasy leagues at this point.
Ripple effects of Dodgers landing Skubal
Tim Kurkjian joins Dan Patrick to discuss the Dodgers' acquisition of Tarik Skubal and the ripple effects of a potential lockout next season.

Gavin Sheets (foot) is not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks.

It doesn’t sound like Sheets is headed to the injured list yet, but he’s been battling plantar fasciitis recently. There should be some additional clarity on his status at some point this week.

Gabriel Moreno was scratched from the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Padres.

It sounds like Moreno is headed to the paternity list. The 26-year-old backstop will likely be away from the club for a couple days. It’ll be James McCann taking over behind the plate.

Guardians optioned 1B Kyle Manzardo to Triple-A Columbus.

Manzardo has been limited to mostly facing right-handed starters and the Guardians are going to roll with newly acquired Nathaniel Lowe in that role at first base for the final two months. The 26-year-old former top prospect heads back to the minors after hitting .215/.306/.378 with 13 homers and 39 RBI in 356 plate appearances over 102 games this season. He’s simply not a fantasy-relevant option at first base anymore.

Guardians optioned C/OF David Fry to Triple-A Columbus.

Fry heads back to the minors after hitting .182/.304/.336 with six homers and 13 RBI across 168 plate appearances in a reserve role this season. The fact that he’s no longer catching extinguishes his only real path to fantasy relevance at this stage of his career.

Giants recalled RHP Tristan Beck from Triple-A Sacramento.

Beck gets another look with the Giants after their numerous trade deadline moves cleared a couple spots on the active roster. The 30-year-old reliever holds a lackluster 6.39 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 5/3 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings in nine appearances this season.

Seymour returns to the majors on the heels of San Francisco’s sell-off at the trade deadline. The 27-year-old made two appearances for the Giants earlier this year. He’ll operate in a low-leverage multi-inning role out of the bullpen.
