Taylor Ward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a 3-2 win over the Astros on Friday.

Up until the eighth inning, the Orioles had only scratched one run across in this game and it came via three consecutive walks in the third inning. Their pitching kept them in the game and Ward turned this game on its head with a two-run shot that pushed them to victory. It was a key fifth straight win for them as they try to claw back into the playoff race and Ward finding some power could really help their chances. This was just his seventh home run of the season after hitting 36 last year as one of the league’s leaders. He’s held up his value somewhat with a sky-high .388 on-base percentage that’s mostly been fueled by his ultra-passive approach, but fantasy managers and the Orioles alike would love to see more of that power return.

Taylor Ward went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and two runs scored against the Royals on Saturday.

Ward’s home run was just his sixth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Noah Cameron in the sixth inning. After hitting 61 home runs over the two previous seasons, Ward has had a power outage. Saturday’s home run was his first since June 22, breaking a streak of 15 games without a home run. Ward’s .104 ISO is still on pace to be a career-low.

Taylor Ward went 2-for-5 and hit his fifth homer Monday against the Angels.

And he got to stay in left field the whole way through. That wouldn’t typically be noteworthy, but the Orioles needed someone to play third base after Blaze Alexander got hurt in the third inning tonight. The seemingly obvious move with Jackson Holliday unavailable would have been to lose Coby Mayo as the DH and play him at his natural position, but the Orioles instead galaxy-brained using Leody Taveras at the hot corner, even though Taveras had never played any infield as the pro. Ward, on the other hand, has started at third 42 times as a major leaguer and 101 times as a minor leaguer. Still, Ward stayed put and all worked out in the end. Taveras played five innings at third without incident, and the Orioles did finally sacrifice the DH and stick Mayo at third for the final two innings of a 6-1 win.

Taylor Ward went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Ward’s home run was just his third of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Kevin Gausman in the fifth inning. Ward’s power is noticeably down this season as his .105 ISO would be the lowest of his career in a single season where he’s reached 200 at-bats. He has a career .185 ISO so Sunday’s home run could be the beginning of Ward finding his power stroke this year.

Taylor Ward went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run scored as the Orioles fell to the Red Sox 8-1 on Wednesday.

It’s been a fascinating season for Ward, whose walk rate has exploded as Baltimore’s leadoff hitter. He was at 11% with the Angels last season, and it’s now near 20%. His strikeout rate has also fallen, but it has cost him in the power department, as he has just two home runs through June 3. Ward has started all but one game for the Orioles, consistently hitting first or second. As a result, he has 37 runs scored compared to just 17 RBI.

Taylor Ward smashed a leadoff homer during Tuesday’s loss to the Rays.

Ward took Tampa Bay starter Griffin Jax deep to left field to open the contest. It was his first round-tripper since April 19. It also wound up being Baltimore’s lone run of the contest as Jax and four relievers combined on an three-hit shutout the rest of the way.

Taylor Ward went 2-for-5 and clubbed his first home run of the season on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Orioles past the Guardians.

Ward got the O’s on the board with a 394-foot (107.4 mph EV) three-run blast off of Joey Cantillo in the fifth inning, trimming their deficit to two runs at 5-3. The 32-year-old outfielder also singled in the contest. He has done a very nice job in his first year with the Orioles, slashing .295/.388/.445 with a homer, 11 RBI and one stolen base in his first 103 plate appearances.

Taylor Ward went 2-for-4 with a walk, two singles, and two runs scored on Sunday afternoon as the Orioles bested the Giants.

Ward smacked a two-out single off of Adrian Houser in the fifth inning then raced around to score on Pete Alonso’s two-run double. He also singled to lead off the seventh and scored on an infield single off the bat of Colton Cowser. Ward is still looking for his first home run of the season, but is slashing a terrific .356/.435/.525 with 10 doubles, seven runs scored and eight RBI in his first 69 plate appearances with the O’s.

Taylor Ward went 4-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI in leading the Orioles to a 5-3 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

Ward had 36 homers and 31 doubles last year. Through 11 games this season, he has zero homers but an MLB-high nine doubles. A bit of a reversal was expected there with Ward trading Angel Stadium for Camden Yards, but it’s not a ballpark thing at all so far; none of Ward’s doubles would have been homers in any ballpark. In fact, his farthest pulled flyball to date this season was a 260-foot single. It’s probably all pretty meaningless at this point. Ward is hitting .383/.464/.574 and has eight RBI despite hitting only first and second.

Taylor Ward went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the Orioles fell to the Pirates on Sunday afternoon.

As a team, the Orioles had eight hits in the contest, with Ward the only member of the O’s to tally more than one. He led off the fourth inning with a double off of Braxton Ashcraft then scored his club’s first run on an RBI double off the bat of Pete Alonso. While he has yet to hit a home run, Ward is off to a nice start with his new ballclub, slashing .343/.429/.457 with five RBI and a 9/6 K/BB ratio in his first 42 plate apperarnces.

Taylor Ward went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI versus the Rangers in Tuesday’s loss.

Ward didn’t seem like the ideal choice to open as the Orioles’ leadoff hitter, but he done just fine there so far, batting .300 with a 4/3 K/BB. He is still looking for his first homer. Last year, he had 36 of those for the Angels, though he hit .228 with 175 strikeouts in the process.

Carlos Carrasco, who was released by the Braves on Tuesday, has signed with the LG Twins of Korea.

Following several stints with the Braves this season, Carrasco is going to Asia for the first time at age 39. We wouldn’t want to rule out a return to MLB at some point, but for now, he departs with a 112-105 record and a 4.24 ERA over 17 seasons in MLB. He had his best season in 2017, going 18-6 with a 3.29 ERA and finishing fourth in the AL Cy Young balloting for Cleveland.

Pete Crow-Amstrong reached five times, going 2-for-2 with a triple and three walks, in the Cubs’ 11-2 rout of the Tigers on Tuesday.

It’s the fourth time in his career that Crow-Armstrong has reached base safely, with three of those coming within the last two months. He’d entered the night in a little 2-for-26 slump, but with the way his plate discipline has improved, it just doesn’t seem at all likely that he’ll suffer a second-half swoon to resemble last year’s. He’s at .285/.384/.521 for the season, and he’s walked 52 times in 101 games this year after doing so just 29 times in 157 games last season.

Peterson won for the second time in four starts for the Cubs and the fifth time overall this season. He still has a 5.57 ERA for his new team, but 10 of the 13 runs he’s surrendered came in one start versus the Cardinals. Tonight’s effort ensures that he’ll stick in the rotation with Aaron Civale around, and he’ll get a chance for some revenge against the Cardinals on Monday.

Aaron Civale’s 2026 Cubs debut saw him allow two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief Tuesday against the Tigers.

Civale, who was acquired from the A’s on Saturday, could have gotten a three-inning save tonight, but David Peterson was allowed to pitch into the seventh in a 9-0 game. It was Civale’s seventh career relief appearance. Five of the other six, along with his only save, came in his late-season stint with the Cubs last year. It’s likely that Civale will get some starts going forward, but with Jameson Taillon back, he’ll likely remain in the pen for now.

Framber Valdez lasted just two-thirds of an inning and gave up six runs Tuesday against the Cubs.

Valdez made his own trouble by giving up a triple, a walk and hitting a batter to start the game, but he could have escaped without too much trouble if Gleyber Torres had been anything more than a statue at second. As is, Carson Kelly singled in two runs on a ball to Torres’s left, Michael Busch singled in one on a ball to Torres’s right and Ian Happ singled in one on a popup to shallow right that neither Torres nor Michael Busch chased after. Valdez finally departed with his pitch count up to 42 pitches. He fell to 5-7 with a 4.57 ERA, but as disappointing as he’s been, we wouldn’t read too much into this one. He’ll face the Royals on Sunday.

Dingler’s homer off Aaron Civale in the ninth gave the Tigers’ their only runs in the 11-2 loss, but it wasn’t far off from being a two-homer game; his 362-foot shot to left in the second would have been a homer in 23 ballparks and likely would have gone out in Wrigley if the wind hadn’t been blowing in. Dingler has 22 homers and 65 RBI in 92 games on the season.

There really aren’t any middle-of-the-road outings with Imai on the mound. In the seven starts in which he’s completed five innings. he’s gone 6-1 with a 1.77 ERA. In his other seven starts, he’s 0-3 with a 14.54 ERA. He’ll face the Angels next time out. Not that it means much of anything, but he gave up four runs and walked four in 2 2/3 innings against them in his first MLB start back in March.
