Tigers selected the contract of RHP Troy Watson from Triple-A Toledo; optioned him to Triple-A Toledo.

With Will Vest being moved to the 60-day injured list on Sunday, the Tigers had an opening on their 40-man roster to add Watson. The 29-year-old hurler has compiled a 2.88 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 39/20 K/BB ratio over 56 1/3 innings primarily at Triple-A Toledo this season. He could get a chance to finally make his big league debut before the summer is through.

Cristian Javier will likely start Tuesday against the Angels, Astros GM Dana Brown indicated.

The Astros had Ethan Pecko scratched from his Triple-A start in case they wanted to bring him up, but it looks like the plan now is to stick with Javier, who gave up four runs in five innings against the Padres in his last start.

Dansby Swanson will undergo an MRI on Monday and is slated to go on the injured list, according to manager Craig Counsell.

Michael Massey went 3-for-4 with a solo homer Sunday in a victory over the Angels.

Massey singled twice, but the big blow was a solo homer off Ryan Johnson to give Massey his 11th homer of the season. The 28-year-old has put together a competent 2026 campaign with a .271/.301/.442 slash in 325 at-bats. The one thing holding Massey back is a lack of steals — just two this year — but he does help compensate with the pop.

Bobby Witt Jr. went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in a victory for the Royals over the Angels on Sunday.

Witt Jr. took Ryan Johnson deep in the fifth inning to extend the Royals’ lead to 2-0. The 26-year-old has disappointed in his power production in 2026, but this puts the star shortstop up to 14 homers with 43 RBI with 37 games to go.
