Kyle Tucker, Max Muncy sit Monday vs. Phillies

The homer off Antonio Senzatela gave the Dodgers a 4-2 lead in the sixth and was his record 131st at Dodger Stadium. Even though the ballpark has been open since 1962, Eric Karros had been the stadium leader at 130.

It appears to be a routine day off for Edman, who is hitting just .154 (6-for-39) with one homer and four RBI in 10 games since the start of August. It’ll be Miguel Rojas drawing a start at second base in his absence.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is shaking things up by moving Freddie Freeman up to the second spot in the order with Andy Pages following and Tucker in the cleanup spot. Max Muncy and Mookie Betts remain in the middle of the lineup with Teoscar Hernández on the bench.

It appears to be a matchup-based decision with lefty Noah Cameron on the hill for Kansas City. Tucker has shown some real signs of life recently, hitting .298 (14-for-47) with four homers and one steal over his last 15 games. It’ll be Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández in the outfield corners for Los Angeles in this one.

Muncy will take a seat with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez toeing the slab for the Diamondbacks. Enrique Hernández will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat eighth for the Dodgers on Sunday in Phoenix.

It looked like Tucker was going to have the go-ahead homer, as it gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead late in the contest. Edwin Diaz didn’t allow that to happen with another blown save, but it does come in a victory, and it does give Tucker 11 homers on the season.

It could have been 3-for-4 with a homer, but Corbin Carroll brought back Edman’s 359-foot fly to right in the third. It would have been a homer in 21 ballparks, according to Statcast.

Tucker was able to silence his boos for just a moment with an opposite-field homer off Javier Assad to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. That would be the last run of the game for Los Angeles, as they’ve now lost five straight and weren’t able to pick up a win in Tarik Skubal’s debut. Tucker also singled to improve his slash to a still-disappointing .243/.341/.381 in his first year with Los Angeles.

Edman gave the Dodgers an early advantage by taking Cubs starter Matthew Boyd deep in the opening frame. It was his third round-tripper of the season and lone hit in four at-bats. The versatile 31-year-old has been moved towards the middle of Los Angeles’ lineup with Mookie Betts continuing to struggle, which is a definite boost to his fantasy appeal.

Tommy Edman has been moved up another spot as a result. With the exception of a two-homer explosion against the Phillies last week, Betts has been a complete non-factor at the plate in the second half, hitting .184 (7-for-38) in 10 games since the Midsummer Classic. It’s admittedly a small sample size, but Betts has gone through some ice-cold spells at the dish over the last two years. It’s a frustrating situation for fantasy managers to navigate, but the Dodgers can afford to let him continue tinker and work on things until the playoffs roll around.
