McLean cleaned it up from there, allowing just one single and two walks over the remaining four innings. He’s now 9-8 with a 3.34 ERA, and he’s due to face the White Sox next.

Kodai Senga was given the night off after working two of the previous three days. Duarte, on the other hand, was allowed to make it three out of four days. He should rest Tuesday, with Senga likely back available for the ninth.

Buehler has completed six innings in back-to-back starts for the first time this year. This goes as his first loss since July 6, but he did his job while allowing just two hits and two walks. Buehler is due to face the Twins on Sunday. Joe Musgrove should be back after that, leaving the Padres with a decision to make on who to bounce from the rotation. Buehler probably has an edge over Randy Vásquez at this point.

Romero adds that Marte, who was placed on the restricted list by the Diamondbacks after failing to show up to Fenway Park for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox, doesn’t have an estimated return date at the moment. It’s a complicated situation and fantasy managers should brace for the possibility that Marte is away from the club for an extended period. There should be a definitive update from the Diamondbacks on his status relatively soon.

Lowder authored the longest start of his professional career, helping to spare Cincinnati’s bullpen during the nightcap affair of a twin bill at Great American Ball Park. The 24-year-old gave up eight hits, including a solo homer to Iván Herrera. He finished with five strikeouts and also issued two walks. He’ll close out a two-start week with a road matchup against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Pallante got the ball for the second game of Monday’s doubleheader and managed to somehow keep the ball in the yard, despite allowing 10 hits across six frames. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass. He gave up an early run before silencing Cincinnati into the sixth inning before surrendering three runs on hits from Michael Toglia and Héctor Rodríguez in the frame. He’ll face the Phillies to wrap up a two-start week on Saturday.

Díaz clubbed a game-tying solo shot off Orioles starter Brandon Young in the third inning and wound up reaching base safely in four of his five plate appearances out of the leadoff spot. The 35-year-old on-base machine is just two round-trippers shy of reaching the 20-homer mark for the third time in the last four seasons.
