Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two stolen bases, an RBI and two runs scored on Thursday, leading the Reds to a 3-2 victory over the Pirates.

De La Cruz walked to open the home half of the first inning and swiped second base, but the Reds couldn’t cash him in from there. The 24-year-old superstar then smacked an RBI double in the third and scored on an RBI knock by Sal Stewart. He also doubled in the fifth inning and swiped third before being stranded there. De La Cruz finished his night with a leadoff double off of Gregory Soto in the ninth inning and he scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Nathaniel Lowe. For the season, De La Cruz is now hitting a robust .279/.355/.504 with 18 homers, 48 RBI and 20 stolen bases.

Elly De La Cruz went 0-for-4 with a walk and an error on Wednesday against the Guardians.

This was a bad, bad game for De La Cruz. Not getting a hit is fine, that happens to great players all the time. Yet, he hurt his team with sloppy defense here. This game unraveled for the Reds when the Guardians put up four runs in the fifth inning and that frame started with De La Cruz misplaying a ground ball. Then, he had an opportunity to erase his mistake when the next ball was hit at him, but tried to flip it with his glove to start a double play and it was off target. Mistakes like this happen too often for a player of De La Cruz’s caliber. He’s still having an excellent season for our purposes with 18 home runs, 18 stolen bases, and an .842 OPS through 88 games.

Elly De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a walk, run scored and two stolen bases on Friday night as the Reds triumphed over the Cardinals.

De La Cruz singled with one out in the fifth inning and swiped second base, but the Reds were unable to cash him in from there. He also led off the ninth inning with a walk, stole second base, took third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Sal Stewart. On the season, the dynamic 24-year-old shortstop is now slashing .276/.352/.500 with 17 homers, 46 RBI and 18 stolen bases over 372 plate appearances.

Elly De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in the Reds’ 4-2 win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

De La Cruz got the scoring started with a solo homer off of Luis Castillo in the first inning. He later drew a walk in the eighth and was thrown out at home. The 24-year-old shortstop is hitting .280/.354/.509 with 17 homers, 55 runs scored, 46 RBI, and 15 steals across 362 plate appearances.

Elly De La Cruz went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and a pair of runs scored as the Reds triumphed over the Rockies in Friday’s second half opener.

The 24-year-old superstar led off the top half of the first inning with a single and raced around to score the game’s first run on an RBI double off the bat of Sal Stewart. He then put the cherry on top of the victory with a 434-foot (105.8-mph EV) solo shot off of Jeff Criswell in the ninth inning. With his four-hit attack, De La Cruz is now slashing an impressive .282/.354/.506 with 16 homers, 45 RBI and 14 stolen bases (in 20 attempts) on the season.

Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday’s win over the Cubs.

De La Cruz broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning, sending his 15th homer of the season into the stands. He would later triple in the bottom of the seventh and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Sal Stewart to put the Reds up 2-0. Elly continues to go on a tear since returning from injury and is slashing .286/.390/.543 on the month with a few days to go before the All-Star break.

Elly De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with two walks and two steals in Friday’s loss to the Orioles.

De La Cruz did what he could to try and get the Reds on the board, reaching base in three of five trips to the plate while also swiping second base twice. Despite his best efforts, the Reds just couldn’t get any runs across on a night where the Orioles combined to walk six batters while giving up just four hits. These are the first steals for Elly since May 31st, and should serve as yet another sign that he is good to go after last month’s injuries.

Elly De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run against the Brewers on Monday.

De La Cruz’s home run was his 13th. He hit a two-run shot off Robert Gasser in the fifth inning. De La Cruz sprained left ankle on Sunday, but remained in the game. Monday was just his third game since retuning from a hamstring injury. By hitting the home run, De La Cruz showed he’s over his various ailments, which is great news for fantasy managers.

Elly De La Cruz (ankle) is in the lineup at DH for Monday’s series opener against the Brewers.

There was reason for concern after De La Cruz sprained his left ankle during Sunday’s series finale against the Pirates. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar was able to finish out the contest, just his second since returning from a three-week stint on the injured list with a hamstring strain, and the Reds have apparently determined that he won’t require any additional time off to recover. It’s an extremely encouraging sign that he’s ready for Monday’s contest in Milwaukee at DH while Matt McLain handles shortstop with rookie Edwin Arroyo at the keystone.

Elly De La Cruz sprained his ankle during Sunday’s game against the Pirates and will be re-evaluated on Monday.

De La Cruz slipped coming out of the batter’s box on Sunday and later had to have his ankle taped. Reds manager Terry Francona said that the ankle “stiffened up” on De La Cruz after the game, and the team will need to re-evaluate him to decide whether or not a trip to the injured list is necessary. The Reds play seven days in a row this week, so the team could decide before Monday’s game.

Elly De La Cruz is hitting leadoff on Saturday against the Pirates.

De La Cruz has gone 1-for-9 at the dish across three games since returning from the injured list earlier this week. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar moves atop Cincinnati’s lineup for the first time this season after mostly hitting second or third. It’s possible this is merely one-game change with typical table-setter Blake Dunn sitting out due to an elbow injury. It’s a situation worth monitoring for the next couple days.

The Cubs didn’t add a veteran closer before the deadline, so it looks like Palancia will have a chance to get his job back upon returning. He’ll definitely need at least a couple of rehab appearances first.

Pfaadt’s strong groundball rate has taken a hit in his last two starts, but it hasn’t kept him from pitching 13 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out three tonight. He has a 1.78 ERA in his last five starts despite striking out just 13 in 30 1/3 innings, but that strikeout rate is scarier now that he’s no longer racking up the grounders. Even with all of his recent success, he’s not a great play with the Dodgers next on the schedule.

Garcia was robbed of what could have been his third save in five days when the D-backs scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 5-1 game. He pitched the ninth anyway and turned in a third straight hitless frame. He seems like the favorite for saves in Arizona right now, though because he’s a lefty, he might be needed earlier in games at times.

Michael King surrendered three runs in five innings Monday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Tim Tawa’s homer in the fourth, which was set up by a walk and a single, did all of the damage. King dropped to 6-8 with a 3.45 ERA. The run support really hasn’t been there for him, but this is the first time he’s lost in four games in which the Padres have scored only one run. He had twice won 1-0 and once taken a no-decision after allowing one run in six innings. He’ll face the Astros next.

Junior Caminero launched his 31st and 32nd homers to help power the Rays past the Rockies 13-9 on Monday.

All five of his balls in play tonight were hit at least 98 mph, with the homers checking in at 112 and 109 mph. Caminero is moving into some very rare territory now with 84 homers through his age-22 season. He moved past Al Kaline tonight and is now tied with Mickey Mantle for 15th place on that list. Next up are Jimmie Foxx at 86 and Johnny Bench and Ken Griffey Jr. at 87. He’s not going to approach Mel Ott’s record of 115, but he ought to finish up in the top 10.

First, he should be in line for at least one more start Sunday against the Mariners.
