Nick Kurtz to undergo MRI on injured forearm

Wilcox suffered the injury and was pulled in the middle of an at-bat during the seventh inning. Oblique issues are notoriously tricky, so don’t be surprised if it winds up requiring Wilcox to spend a couple of weeks on the injured list.

Arrighetti has been working his way back from a nerve issue in his foot and it appeared as though he may have aggravated it again during Thursday’s contest. Before exiting he had allowed just two walks over 2 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball with one strikeout. He’ll head for further evaluation. Expect the Jays to have an update on his status before Friday’s game.

Urías suffered the injury while running the bases during Thursday’s game. The Jays should have a better idea on a timeline for his return and whether or not he’ll require a trip to the injured list after Friday’s exam.

Wilson has been shelved since spring training due to lumbar disc inflammation in his back. He has made nine appearances in the minor leagues as he has rehabbed, posting a 1.80 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and a 7/4 K/BB ratio over 10 innings of work. If he’s healthy, there should be teams interested in taking a shot on him as he has proven to be a viable bullpen arm at the game’s highest level.

Dingler got the Tigers on the board in the top half of the first inning, clobbering a 2-1 cutter from Bryce Miller for a 401-foot (101.3-mph EV) two-run blast that gave the Tigers a lead they would never relinquish. He also added an RBI single in the third inning and another knock in the seventh. The 27-year-old backstop homered in all three games against the Mariners in Seattle. Dingler is quietly having an MVP-caliber season for the Tigers, slashing .278/.341/.536 with the aforementioned 26 long balls and 78 RBI while playing Gold Glove defense behind the plate.

McGonigle worked Bryce Miller for a start to open the ballgame then rode home on Dillon Dingler’s two-run blast. He then singled in the second inning and scored on an RBI knock from Dingler. The 21-year-old phenom then belted a 368-foot (102.7-mph EV) two-run shot off of Cole Wilcox in the seventh that extended the Tigers’ lead to 6-0. With his two-hit attack, McGonigle is now slashing .284/.391/.431 with 12 homers, 44 RBI, 74 runs scored and 11 stolen bases (in 12 attempts) in an increasingly impressive rookie campaign.

Keith smacked an RBI double in the opening inning that increased the Tigers’ lead to 3-0. He then tacked on an RBI single in the seventh to extend the Tigers’ advantage to 8-0 and picked up a single against Victor Robles then came around to score in the ninth inning. His bat has been heating up in recent weeks, slashing .345/.391/.571 with three homers and 13 RBI in his last 84 at-bats.

The 32-year-old southpaw punched out five batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. The Mariners did have some traffic on the basepaths behind him, but Valdez got three double plays turned behind him that helped him to evade damage. He got just four swings and misses on 95 pitches on the day, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll try to replicate this fine effort as he brings a 4.17 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 103/45 K/BB ratio (127 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s critical divisional matchup against the Guardians.

As a team, the M’s were only able to muster seven hits and two walks off of Framber Valdez and company with Arozarena the only player in the lineup to reach base twice. The 31-year-old outfielder is having another solid season at the dish, slashing .285/.379/.456 with 14 homers, 49 RBI and 20 stolen bases.

Miller struck out five opposing hitters in the contest while issuing a pair of free passes. The Tigers jumped on him for three runs in the opening inning, including a two-run blast by Dillon Dingler. Dingler then tacked on an RBI single in the third inning. The 27-year-old hurler generated 10 swings and misses on 93 offerings on the day, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he carries a stellar 3.08 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 79/15 K/BB ratio (79 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Yankees in New York.
