Mets selected the contract of OF Cristian Pache from Triple-A Syracuse.
Pache was a big-time prospect with the Braves a couple years ago and wound up being one of the centerpieces of the Matt Olson trade with the Athletics. The 27-year-old is a phenomenal defender, but he simply hasn’t hit enough to be an everyday option at the highest level. He’s bounced around between a couple different clubs with the Mets being the latest to roll the dice on him as a zero-risk reclamation project.
